Styling Ordering a new 500. Tough to choose !

Just a quick question for anyone in the know.. I think I want the red, with a brown/ ivory interior. On the configurator, its not a possible choice (the brown is available on other colours but not on the red). Does this mean its a complete no-go or does it just mean i might have to wait a while longer for a 'unique spec' car...? Thanks!

I'm not overly sure but I asked my dealer if the brown cloth seats were an option on the Epic Blue as they're not on the configurator but he claimed that you can only have the options it allows on configurator. He might just be trying to give me less options to hurry up an order though, so you should try asking about it. Can't hurt to try :)

Is there any chance you could take a piccie of the purple car in your dealer Elsie? :)

I might be at the dealers again tomorrow having a browse again. If I am, I'll try and get a pic. The lighting isn't so good there but I'll have a go if I get the chance :)

The man at the dealership today said I could.. but he was extremely vague and didn't seem to actually know what interior options were available on each colour choice.. I felt I knew more than him..! Part of me thinks that if a colour choice is available (like the tan leather is available on the 500c.. and a nice cream/tan fabric) then they should in theory be able to fit it to the colour and car of your choice.. but I think perhaps I am being over optimistic.! I wonder if, like you say, they like to go for the 'safe' options that they know will arrive quickly.. Personally I'd rather wait longer and get exactly what I want..

You can only have the combinations on the configurator.

If Chillout Purple is almost Black then its suddenly become an interesting colour. It does look very bright on the configurator and adverts though.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of black-black for the 500. not sure why exactly, but it doesn't do it for me. But an aubergine black might be rather delicious.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but I spoke to my local dealer yesterday and he said, with regards to interior colour choices, that they will get seats and door cards trimmed to whatever colour leather you require - he has a wodge of colour choice samples that you can choose from, not the configurator colours. He said they basically get the car in in whatever it comes in, then will send them off to be retrimmed for you. Its £1000 (but bearing in mind the leather option on the configurator is £780 its not hugely different) and you can spec it however you want, so you could have tan with cream piping, get the 500 logo sewn into the seat, etc.. plus they give you heated seats too. Im not sure if all dealerships will do this or whether its just something that mine do - Its a Glyn Hopkins dealer. He said the seats then come with their own warrenty for wear and tear etc.

I had that done on the Golf I bought recently. The quality is about 90% of VW quality (which makes it about 170% of Fiat quality I guess...).

For a price comparison in the US the aftermarket leather option was costing $1,299 and for the heated seats was $499 (Click here). A charcoal option was offered but it was discontinued because there were problems with it. (Click here). Funnily enough the OP liked the Brown leather but her husband didn't and that was why she was looking at the aftermarket option. After all the discussion about leather and colours, 500c's etc. she opted for a Pop 500 tintop in Pearlescent white in Ivory ambiance with red seats.

I agree, cream would be lovely.. but I have a dog and a husband who spends most of his time covered in oil so I suspect it wouldn't stay cream for long..!!!

What dealer is it?

They probably get a local re-trimmer to do the work.. but anyway, it's good if there's someone out there who does a lot of 500s... It means they'll be better at it. :)

Glyn Hopkins, in St Albans, Herts. I know of a really good retrimmer in Baldock but I am not sure where I would stand with regard to my warrenties etc if I had the seats retrimmed elsewhere. I don't suppose it would make any difference.

Ha, in that case they would probably get it done by the same people who leathered my Golf, seeing as that was done by Wayside St Albans which is all of 200 yards from Glyn Hopkins....

It shouldn't affect the rest of the car's warranty, though obviously you wouldn't be able to hassle Fiat if the re-trim started to wear or some of the stitching come undone, etc. :)

Mind you, to do re-trimming you have to be pretty good... it's not the sort of work that tends to be low quality..

I think... "Volare Blue with cream seats...." :)

Ordered today :D

Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge in Epic Blue.
With black/white check seats with ivory ambience, chrome mirrors, rubbing strips with 500 logo and tinted rear windows.

I'm very aware of choosing blind, but I'm sure I'll love it. Mutual decision between my dad and me, now I just need to hurry up and learn to drive, been a long time coming :)

Let the long wait begin... oh, I wish I wasn't so impatient !

Also...

I snapped a some photos of Chillout today with my ipod because my phone is dying. So hard to get photos, everything is so light reflecting. I've taken quite a liking to the purple now :) Hope pics give you some idea.

Oooo congratulations!!! What is your wait time? Have they given you a delivery date?
Very exciting..!!

What a gorgeous colour Chillout Purple is, and nothing like the configurator at all. Trouble is my wife is insisting on black 16" wheels and you can't get a purple Street. Really need to see this colour in the metal now though.
