General Is it possible to connect my phone to fiat 500 2009 sport using aux to usb c cable to play music?

I bought this cable to connect to my fiat 500 sport, but it doesnt seem to be working, is there any way to fix this or bypass it?

Presume your cable plugs into the phone's USB-C socket and also into the car's 3.5mm AUX socket? Is the 3.5mm end a plug or a socket? Not familiar with this type of arrangement but do you need to change the output in the phone settings?
