Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto 1.2

Introduction

My Punto MK2 1.2

Had the car since January 2012 and have been doing a few things there and there so here's what I've done:

Interior

  • New Front Speakers
  • 12" Subwoofer
  • Head Unit
  • Sporting Steering Wheel
  • Custom Gear Knob

Exterior

  • Debadged the Fiat on the boot
  • Painted Rear Drums
  • Tinted Side Windows
  • Tinted Boot Door Window

Here's what she looks like:

Plans

  • Ford Focus Induction Kit
  • Abarth Alloys
  • Abarth front and rear bumpers
  • Partial Respray (after some woman decided to hit my car from the side! )
  • Footwell neons
  • Replace headlights (as current ones seem to have this unremoval dirt)
  • Buy a better head unit with USB :p
  • And much more :D

Shall keep this thread updated as I progress with this car :)

Feel free to comment (y)
A new update for my little Punto MK2 :)

I have now fitted the Ford Focus Induction Kit and I'm very impressed with the nice grunt the car gives off when I put my righty on the accelerator :p I have noticed an improvement on the throttle response as well! Here it is all nicely fitted:

I decided that where I had my DRL's was not a good place to have them so I thought what the hell I'll move them somewhere more better so they stand out :)

I will get a night shot of that tonight and upload it before I go bed!

And lastly, I have finally got my FiatForum sticker on the car and looks lovely gives my car that final touch ;)

And that's it for now, but all being well next month for my birthday I might be getting proper alloys and I have chosen a set, but I will be using my current tyres for them then save up for low profile tyres :D

So until my next update, LATERS!

tell me something
with this induction kit from where the car can have cold air?

I waa told behind the battery, I did orginally have it over the engine which is worst place to have it as thats the hot air feed. So yeah behind the battery if you want a cold air feed, hope that answers your question? :)

χαχαχαχα you thinkyou will have cold air behind battery loool and where you can have COLD air in there??? ... do a test... do a distance with non stop and then go and touch it... it will be warm as hell... my ram air has the enviromental temprature... better fix it to go in front of the motor and while running you ll have cold air... http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/384100_235719626504166_806550340_n.jpg

this is a foto of a friend of mine... it still needs a ram air kit but still better than behind the battery...

there it has no sense... you ll not have any cold air in this spot!!!

αnd i dont believe you had a bettery throttle responce since you dont have an electric one :)

Well dave told me.to put it there, and what i mean by better throttle its more responsive than when i had the crappy filter.

then he has nt done so much experiments :)

do the test i said you... my ram air all pipes and the intake manifold are enviromentally temprature... you should get as cold air as you can... and behind the battery you cant have cold air cause there is no opening there for air!!!

that a filter of another friend of mine (twister by green)... you should get it as in front as you can in the bumper :)
i have fitted ram air from citroen C2 vts in my punto

you can see it here

Behind the battery tray - literally is the coolest place - a little bit further down from it tho

Why?
away from engine
lots of fresh air coming up from under the car

At the front of the car
Okay lots of air movement, but its lots of air movement into a smoking hot manifold and engine

Ziggy

you say so that behind the battery the air is coming up? you probably wrong cause if the fan is open and put your leg out of the car near your door you can feel the hot air!!! (yes i am driving from left so...) and then think if the cold air is coming from in front as it gets hots cooling the engine it is leaving from behind...
in front the fresh air as it comes to the filter it is cooling all the system!!! and if it gets hot there and when you move its imediately cooling imagine behind the battery... it will never cool ;)
if you ever come in greece we can go for a ride and see what i mean than my induction system and the intake manifold are cold!!! (as it can, it depends the enviroment as i already posted)
and if you ever change catalyst (cause he has all the temprature and not the outlet manifold) and get it down the motor you ll meet a whole cooler engine bay ;)

my opinion is that the cooler spot is in front getting fresh air and with a ram air you only get fresh air and not hot air from the manifold ;)

maybe for you. you live in greece. a 16v engine like the picture in your post, thats been mounted correctly for that engine.

as for the 8v's like bens, behind the battery is the best place. here its not being hung over the top of the engine and over the exhaust mani.

Air inductions do not need air pushed into them. you'd be supprised how little air actually gets into the engine bay at the front.

Behind the battery tray in the 8v's goes straight under the car. theres plenty of air there for the induction.

ben. leave it where it is, its in the best place.

I originally had the induction kit over the engine (rocker cover) as I was going by the picture, but then dave pointed out about hot/cold feeds which in turn I decided to move the kit behind the battery tray which is the best place on my car, which Ziggy122 & Reuuk have both agreed on also bare in mind yours is a 16v mines a 8v both different layout's under the bonnet. And if your happy with where you kit is then that's up to you, but I'm not moving mine as I'm going with Ziggy and Reuuk (y)

Now put your handbags away ladies :p

hmm

the guy has a point tho..

I have mine over the engine sitting infront of the battery case. Car seems to run fine, doesnt overheat, feels more gutsy.

i would imagine so that as the cool air comes in the front and goes over the engine taking the hot air with it may cause the area behind the engine to warm up.

Also you have your 2 coolant pipes which run into the heater directly next to the air space for the filter behind the battery box which also gets quite hot.

Its 50/50 really without someone actually sticking a temperature measuring device in those 2 places to see which actually becomes cooler when driving and idling.

or maybe not to measure the temperature... but do a test... fix a ram air in front so it gets ONLY air from outside and non hot air from engine bay and then in this place...

my kit i am sure that works cause all my induction kit and all the inlet manifold is cold however it is hot as you say from the outlet manifold.. i get air only from outside...
and i cant imagine if air is coming from front and from under the battery!!!!:confused::confused: from where is leaves?

do the test i said... your inlet and induction will be hot at least hotter than envyromental temprature;)

I will do when I get the spare time I barely have any spare time these days :bang: but with the weather in the UK and winter not far off....cold air all the way, but you have a point and I will look into it :)

γες you are lucky there with the weather... in greece in summer its getting very hot and i always take my punto on night for a ride axaxa

Went out last night with a friend of mine and thought why not take some photos of my car! :D

He also took some photos on his badass camera, which he'll send me at some point ;)

But here are the photos:

And yes I have now C/C my wing mirrors! at some point I might do the door handles if I get the time! But that's it for now (y)

Another update on this thread :) I have started to paint the plastics inside the car, slowly getting there but due to my busy life style I don't have much time so it's mainly weekends I get the time to do stuff to the car. But I won't bore you any longer with that here's a picture of the C/C stereo fascia (yes, I know nasty stereo but it's only a temporary one :p)

I did do the center trim bit where the hazard button is but made a little mistake so redoing that today, but when it's finished and fitted back in the car I will take a picture and upload it on here!

Eventually I will be doing the entire center console and handbrake/gear knob trim to match, then I will be tinting the rear lights and saving up for black angel eyes :) I'm hoping to get all the spraying done in time for the 25th for the Trafford Meet :D

But that's it for now, laters

Sorry guys haven't had much time to update this thread, now this is sort of a big update I have now fitted an aftermarket RCL (Remote Central Locking) kit to the car, just so everyone knows no my model didn't have C/L it's a bog standard key unlock one door...BORING! So brought the kit took me two days to fit as I had a few complications and believe I've never cursed so much in my life :p

So here's a video you can watch to see it in action, for those who are going to the trafford meet on Thursday will see it in person ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fw73O5PLfjo&feature=youtu.be

Enjoy!

Laters (y)

Here's another update, something I got for my birthday last wednesday that arrived a day late so I fitted them on Thursday :)

Black Angel Eye's  :D

Makes the car look stunning!

Here's one picture in the daylight:

And one at night thanks for to my friend for using his great camera

So happy with them, I do want to get better bulbs maybe nightbreakers? I don't fancy going HID just yet maybe sometime later on ;)

What's peoples preference on nightbreakers? They any good I've just put in Xenons and they aren't really good in these headlights compared to the bulbs that came with Angel's so might swap them back over..........

Hope you like the pictures! (y)
