Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto 1.2

Introduction

My Punto MK2 1.2

Had the car since January 2012 and have been doing a few things there and there so here's what I've done:

Interior

  • New Front Speakers
  • 12" Subwoofer
  • Head Unit
  • Sporting Steering Wheel
  • Custom Gear Knob

Exterior

  • Debadged the Fiat on the boot
  • Painted Rear Drums
  • Tinted Side Windows
  • Tinted Boot Door Window

Here's what she looks like:

Plans

  • Ford Focus Induction Kit
  • Abarth Alloys
  • Abarth front and rear bumpers
  • Partial Respray (after some woman decided to hit my car from the side! )
  • Footwell neons
  • Replace headlights (as current ones seem to have this unremoval dirt)
  • Buy a better head unit with USB :p
  • And much more :D

Shall keep this thread updated as I progress with this car :)

Feel free to comment (y)
A new update on the car earlier I went bargain hunting, can't beat that when Christmas is around the corner :p and brought myself a new pair of front speakers as my old ones had long had it, let's just say they had some hammering :D

So the old speakers were Sony Xplod ones, they had crackling above 20% vol that just annoying so I went for these beauties!

Specs:

Frequency Response: 65Hz-20kHz
Impedance: 4ohm
Max Power: 210w
RMS Power: 70w
Sensitivity: 91dB

A big improvement to the car, now I just need a new subwoofer to complete it and maybe 6x6 in parcel shelf :slayer:

Most likely have an update next week at some point, laters! :)

New update!

So I was bored of the bog standard bulbs that came with Angels, so I opt in for Nightbreakers :D so far happy with them! Also now have red footwell neons, did have them sticking under the dashy but kept falling down (both sides!) So anyway, found a nice place for the LED's and the bulbs for the headlights are fitted! So here's two picture's for you ;)

Footwell Neons:

Nightbreaker Bulbs:

And that's it for now or is it? We'll see! ;)

Not much of an update but to keep this thread alive, I'll post this anyway :)

So I got my MOT soon, hopefully she'll pass that with flying colours *me hopes* :p

Now to the update here's a list of things I've fixed over Christmas and New Year (hope everyone had a good christmas and new year, I know I did!)

  • Replaced driver side front tyre. (Nearly bald as a badger!) oops!
  • Re-aligned headlights, as one was dropping slightly. (my fault!)
  • Replaced wheel nut on passenger side wheel, as it was missing due it had some sort of problem in the past but sorted now and its tight as ever!
  • Fixed exhaust mount as exhaust was rubbing against bumper, not required but irriating to me! :p

Last on the list is to sort the dreadful handbrake out, as I had this sorted a while back but obviously they didn't do a good job so now I'm left with no handbrake which I'll sort this very soon then car will be all ready for it's MOT!

Got another job to do to the car, maybe do it tomorrow if I find time but no hint on what I'm doing! All will be revealed tomorrow if I do it tomorrow of course :D

Before I forget: Good Luck...! (y)

Ooh... -- I'm intrigued...!

Are you still finding the FLI speakers ok? I had them in my mk2 Punto, and i wouldn't jump up and down over them. They were an improvement from my then 7 year old previously beaten original speakers, but i didn't find the sound quality to be as good as i expected. I know i wish i'd spent more at the time of buying them. Each to their own though :)

To be honest with you they ain't all that great, I had FLI speakers in my old car which sounded better than these ones...weird? Mind you I'm use to a lot of bass cause at one point I had a sub which blew awhile back :( But they were a bargain at time of purchase, and certainly beat my old Sony Xplod speakers which I hammered for so many months (came with the car) :p I wish I spent the extra £20 and got better ones, ah well never mind they'll do for now :)

Cheers man, I've done so many checks on the car and can't even find a single fault of course apart from the handbrake but that's minor :p

Aha, all will be revealed if can actually do it tomorrow depends what orders I get from the foot specialist as I still have a bad foot just took the old girl on a 14 mile cruise down to Derby and back with a friend and my foot kills (n) ah well...

Tomorrow should be interesting, and not only do I have this *thing* planned but I have a bunch of other things planned for this year for the car going full on :D

What is this and where does it plug into? I've got one of these lying around and I did'nt remove it

That would be an headlight electric adjuster so you can adjust the beam height up and down basically, cause angel eye headlights come with manuals so i took these out of the factory headlights and attached them to them and they work :)

New update :)

I have been digging in my bank balance lately to fix this Punto up, due to M.O.T failure as everyone knows it failed on 6th Jan this year on a few things with corrosion in 3 areas and handbrake fail those things have been fixed!

All that needs doing now is headlights, which I was going to do earlier but due to this lovely snow fall I didn't fancy standing outside sorting it and become a snowman! :D

If it's decent enough in the morning I'll attempt to do the headlights and get it in for another M.O.T! (y)

That's all for the update, but here's a picture of Punto covered in snow!

LATERS! ;)

very nice ride mate (y), any other plans for the future?

Cheers :) hopefully get some abarth stuff for it like sideskirts, spoiler, when weather improves I'm thinking of smoking the side repeaters and tint the rear lights (apart from the reflectors of course! :p) then when I got a bit of money behind me get some nice alloys for it :D

A little update before I go bed :p

The car has it's third M.O.T in the morning (y) as I spent out £64 to get the handbrake sorted, not a bad price to be honest :)

£34 for cables (inc vat) and £30 for fitting (inc vat), originally it was going to cost £79 but I thought bugger that haha! So I sourced my own parts to cut the cost!

Now here comes the interesting part about the old cables!

O/S (Driver side) slightly seized the spring had no movement whatsoever, although it was giving 180 on the readings but if it was slightly seized no wonder I was getting a binding noise!

Now here's shocking one!!!

N/S (Passenger side) SNAPPED!

No wonder why it wasn't going above 40-50 that thing had seen better days no doubt!

So now the car holds on 2-3 clicks like it should do, man you can't even whack that handbrake above that unless you got some crazy ass bodybuilder arms!

Anyway, so I'm feeling the positive vibe for the morning so that's it for now - I shall post an update after M.O.T! Hopefully I walk out with the biggest smile on my face! (y)

Laters!
