Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto 1.2

Introduction

My Punto MK2 1.2

Had the car since January 2012 and have been doing a few things there and there so here's what I've done:

Interior

  • New Front Speakers
  • 12" Subwoofer
  • Head Unit
  • Sporting Steering Wheel
  • Custom Gear Knob

Exterior

  • Debadged the Fiat on the boot
  • Painted Rear Drums
  • Tinted Side Windows
  • Tinted Boot Door Window

Here's what she looks like:

Plans

  • Ford Focus Induction Kit
  • Abarth Alloys
  • Abarth front and rear bumpers
  • Partial Respray (after some woman decided to hit my car from the side! )
  • Footwell neons
  • Replace headlights (as current ones seem to have this unremoval dirt)
  • Buy a better head unit with USB :p
  • And much more :D

Shall keep this thread updated as I progress with this car :)

Feel free to comment (y)
i know, they are really cheap, im not sure how easy they are to wire in though, i looked at the guide on the forum on how to do it, and it doesnt look too bad :D

Pretty easy to be honest follow that guide and you'll be all set, I didn't follow that guide as I'm good with wiring things as I build PC's in my spare time :)

yeah theyre nice alloys i like those, didnt brin have some of those?, im getting fiat coupe alloys in gunmetal grey, im also getting the abarth bodykit, all i need is the front bumper :D

You should start your own project thread so we can all see how your getting on with your car. Especially with all of that you got lined up!

And Ben how much are those alloys gunna cost ya? :)

New update:

Will be replacing the headlights tomorrow thanks to Reuuk for providing me with some decent replacements! (y)

And will be fitting a Ford Focus Induction Kit again thanks to Reuuk for this!

Will be doing the induction kit over next week, so keep an eye on this thread for that :D

Will post pictures of the replacement headlights when fitted (y)

That's it for now, laters!

haha, no problem mate, just make sure you measure up those pipes so you can get the 90degree pipe, you will most likely need to cut it down a bit so it doesn't hit on your bonnet :)

the thread i linked you to about fitting the induction, if you have a read through that I'm sure i listed the size of the breather pipe you needed from when i fitted it.

edit:
https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guides/157789-fitting-focus-induction-kit-8v-1-2-punto-4.html - page 4 15-16mm
and
It listed the copper pipe on there for the breather tube..

I've got a feeling that the 90degree is a 70mm too.

Cheers for that mate, I've asked a friend of mine that works at a place where they sell this sort of stuff asking him nicely if he can get hold of the 90degree pipe for me :p

I'll certainly fit the kit this week, for the headlights one of the bolts is tight as anything so going to give it another go at it - might have to drown the damn thing in WD40! :D

Also another update, the handbrake on the car is now fixed! The issue was because whatever garage fitted the shoes didn't adjust them correctly, the garage today adjusted the shoes and she now doesn't roll down a hill or the scary backwards! :slayer:

Will keep this thread updated as I progress (y)

haha lucky sod!

yeah it prob hasn't been moved for anything so give it a good soaking and leave it for few hours :)

brilliant mate! thats why the cable wouldn't tighten up then!

Yeah they said the shoes look relatively new (no crap built up no cracks or heat marks etc etc!) and that's the same for the front including front pads as well, but so happy i don't have to keep leaving it in gear on a hill handbrake on i'm happy :D

It's always the case if that bumper never been taken off it's just going to have a lot of rust on the bolts, the bolts i did take off i soaked them in WD40 before putting them back on cause I got half way through the job and then 2pm along had to put it back together and run the car down the garage, although I did soak that bolt earlier so might give it another go see if it's loosened up or not if not then i'll soak it even more (y)

Again thanks for all the help mate :)

it such a relief when its nothing serious isn't it haha.

with regard to the bolts
get a wire brush or a old toothbrush on them too, get some of the surface crap off them :)

and not a prob at all mate :)

I think you should take the bump strips off the doors next , theres a guide on the forum :)

Here's some pictures just taken not long ago :)

Had to have the front passenger tyre replaced due to 3 punctures! Needs some tyre stuff on it to make it nice and black like the rest of the tyres:

Had to get a replacement LED for the passenger side due to the other one blew for some odd reason! But here's a nice picture of them both on ;)

And not forgetting the replacement headlights! A little steamy but it's slowly getting better a few more days of use and it should clear up (y)

I will be ordering the parts for the induction kit on Thursday night so hopefully have that fitted either the weekend or next week at the latest :slayer:

And I've also decided when I remove my air filter I'm going to paint the rocker cover to a colour of my choice, so watch out for that!

That's it for now, LATERS!

Check the headlights Breather pipe is clear

they often get stuck together when fitted
So it causes lack of air movement = Condensation

Ziggy

Ah okay, could you tell me where about that is on the headlights? It was a lot worse when first fitted but it's slightly dying down now, once I know where the breather pipe is I'll check it out :)
