Im trying to find out if anyone has had the same problem , Ive just bought my Bravo a month ago and just done over a 1000 mile and it feels like its lacking power doesnt feel like a 120 bhp , i can feel the turbo spool up but when does thats it , no more power seems to come from the engine .

Maybe its just me , so im going back to Fiat and test drive the same model and see if it me or if there is a problem .

cheers Mr Bravo

The bravo is a big unit, and 120BHP isnt agreat deal for a car weighing about 1500kg.

Dont forget your engine wont have properly run in yet. By all means get it back to the dealer though because i think the 120T-JET Bravo is 9.5sec to 60? Which isnt slow...

The Mjet 120 is not slow at all... maybe some turbo lag here and there, but it never felt week to me before the remap.

but what engine do you have? maybe my experience doesn't apply to you since i have the 1.9l 8v.

i drove a couple of mjet 120s when testing them and one did feel substantially weaker than the others,

get it back to them to test it.

Although I thought something similar was happening with my Tjet 150 but i've just got used to its power delivery- had some one in the car from work who stated it felt demonic!

well, you need to be at the right speed, right gear and right rev. etc to get the best out of the mjet engine, I done 16k in my 150mjet and previously owned a remapped stilo 1.9jtd, but my bravo still catch me out as I cant believe how fast it can get!!!

Hi all, just joined the Forum today (see post in newbie section) but this thread caught my interest as I have had what I thought was going to be a really expensive problem with my 08 Bravo 120 Multijet (1.9 8v) where the symptoms where just as described above...
It turned out to be the usual Fiat build quality/character popping up again - basically EML came on and lack of power on the motorway - turned out to be the small plastic pipe from inlet manifold to wastegate sensor had not been clipped in/routed properly and so had rubbed on the engine block and worn through, hence giving the wastegate sensore erroneous readings and making the wastegate stay constantly open (so turbo spooled up but no boost pressure). 10p/2 minute fix by chopping worn pipe section out and using a windscreen washer pipe connector and black tape to re-connect...
Maybe worth checking?

try this instead of speeding up gradually try driving normal in second gear rev to 2800 then push the peddle all the way down your back will stick to the seat.

you will get 2 stages where the first 90BHP sets of from the 1.4l engine then when it reachs 3000 you will feel the turbo boost to the 120bhp. its quite a great feeling but just remember to change gear before you red line the car.

never do this when running in a car as it can leave powerless spots when rev you car at a later stage.

finally do this at your own risk i will not be held responsable for any problems that may arise.

surly this would of been a claim at your dealership they should of done it free of charge you may of voided your warentee for the turbo.

You are absolutely right about the dealership doing the work under normal circumstances, but as I bought the car at auction with 1200 miles on the clock I don't think they would be up for any warranty work! (not that I would want to use my local dealer anyway, there must be a special training school somewhere that removes any personality or customer service skills) - you gets what you pays for I s'pose!
I only mentioned the problem as I thought it might be of help - if this is the problem with Mr Bravo333's car (or anyone else's) then hopefully it might save expensive diagnostic work prior to making a warranty claim?
TBH I have never bought a brand new car from a dealer so for me the whole warranty thing is a moot point - Enterprise, resourcefullnesss and shallow pockets are the future!!

Doesn't matter where you brought the car from, it has a 3 (or in some cases 5) year warrenty attached to the car providing the service history is kept up to date using Fiat parts at a VAT registered garage. You could take it to any Fiat garage in the UK and they would at least attempt to fix the problem for you and if they couldn't they usually replace the part.
