Does anyone else see potential for a homemade guitar in this picture? Just me?

I'd like an electric balalaika..................;)

No idea what the hell that is lol... Anyways i feel its time to sway the convo back to the rebuild... and what better way than to add more pictures of my messy kitchen!!

I got bored last night so made a start rebuilding... Im still currently waiting on the front and rear oil seals.. so i can only go so far with the build.. However i made a start fitting the new rings to the pistons, and fitting them in... what a bloody nightmare they were... really didnt wanna go in lol....

I then thought id fit the new water pump... I added a large amount of top quality silicone sealant to it also just to prevent any problems down the line, as the seals are prone to going a bit funny on these...

Then the fun began... ARP's!! I started the modification to the big end bearings... Out came the drill with a countersink fitting and i drilled away.. Their website says to take 1mm out of the cap, so it doesnt come into contact with the ARP on the top corners.. strange..
Ive uploaded a pic of a modified one next to the standard so you can tell the difference... Nothing major really...

Anyways off to collect the gearbox.... nice 250mile round trip.. brilliant :(

Also would like to note for my own future reference... DO NOT MIX UP RODS & CAPS!!!!

Been sat here for about 4 hours trying to work out which cap goes with which rod... Forgot to mark the pistons like an idiot... GRR!!!

Right after a big mess about last night sorting out rods & caps, ive got 3 of the pistons back in, and the crank spins fine...

When i stripped the engine down, i did it over a matter of days.. and the caps were stamped 1,2,3,4.. The mistake started here,,, i then put these away in a pot and forgot about them. Days later i took the pistons out, not thinking to label them... just assuming the rods were marked also.. however last night i found they wern't lol... Ive done no end of rebuilds, and normally remove the cap, push the piston out and stick together in a labled bag... no idea why i didnt this time... complete idiot..

Anyhow, i fitted it all together, including the ARP's (which are a pain to fit) and then found the crank wouldnt spin by hand... Very annoyed... So then came an evening of mix matching until it moved freely.

Ive now got to the stage where 3 are in and the crank turns fairly free, however i cant get the 4th rod back in as Todger has the piston ring compressor, and the lazy gits in bed!!

Fingers crossed later when the 4th is put in and the ARPs the crank still spins... or it will be another night of messing about swearing at it again..

As for ARPs.... anyone fitted them? They only fit in at 32lbft? Not exactly tight compared to the std items im sure.. Followed all the instructions such as tighten, un tighten 3 times & torque up with their lube... Just wouldnt have thought 32lbft was tight enough...
