From what I've read, torque seems to play a big part; M32 is designed to work below 320nm (hence the name "M32").
Also from what I've read the gearbox is considered not-serviceable, that's why it is not in the regular maintenance. I guess it is designed to last about the average age of the car, but obviously that doesn't exactly work

T-Jet has 220Nm.
So, someone has to get fired
And yes, when they noticed the problem, Fiat should send some info to service according to this.
Because, it is cheaper to replace some parts on time. And gearbox isnt't cheap.

True, mine's a bit more, but still...
For FIAT it's cheaper not to do anything, since they know gearboxes will last more than the warranty

But there's people who have no issues. I guess you take your chances!
Main thing with the M32 is not to accelerate in 6th gear, change down to 5th to accelerate and to only ever cruise in 6th.
When I got my M-Jet sport I had it looked over and was advised the clutch was 'about to go' about 30k miles (9 months) later it did go so I dont think it did too bad. The unfortunate thing about my car was the previous driver must have been a fan of slipping the clutch.

Yes but 6th gear is 'synthetic' (so I have heard) and accelerating using 6th gear all the time can cause stress and excessive ware on this 'synthetic' gear causing the gear to fail or cause a whine etc. Someone posted about it the other week. Cant remember who it was though.

Doesn't sound right to me, I'd like to know how they've found this out.
M32 geraboxes are on for example Alfa Romeo 159 1.9jtd, to they have to be very robust if they can handle those diesel power and even more diesel torque.
The problem is not the gears, its the bearings at the end of the shaft 5th and 6th gear run on, they are simply not up to the job.
The bearings become noisy and if left start to wear to the degree it lets the shaft move about, this chips pieces out of the gears damaging them, ultimately punching a hole in the gearbox casing.
I have seen my box in bits and I can tell you there is nothing synthetic about the gears, its just a poor design.

That's actually pretty good to have in mind and also makes a lot of sense...6th is indeed only for cruising and it doesn't hurt to shift down for acceleration.
From what I know about gearboxes (which is not much), too "economy" driving is bad for gearboxes...
That would explain everything. If the bearings are not rated for this job and go on the shaft that has 5th and 6th only (per the link previously posted), that would certainly explain why it happens in 5th and 6th first, and if left untreated, it happens in all other gears as well.
I'm somewhat relieved to know that the bearings were probably changed in 2010, but I will still keep my ears open because obviously if you catch it early on and replace the bearings with proper ones, the gearbox will be fine.

I think with most things that if you ignore a sound for long enough, it'll lead to lead to a bigger problem!
I actually think I might go for it. If I do, the first thing I'll do is change the gearbox oil.

So will C530.6 gearbox from Bravo m-jet fit to t-jet?
I know that gear ratios are different-you will get "more" power but lower max speed, or?
