Just looked at the Samara spec on lada.co.uk...

'...at ambient temperatures from -40ºC to +45ºC. The advanced engine design and the use of high quality oils provide for sure starting at temperatures down to -25ºC'

Now you'd expect that bugger to start in any weather.

Well, considering it was designed to be a workhorse in some of the coldest areas of the world, you'd hope it'd start in all weathers :D The conditions it was designed for was part of the reason why you could take most of the car apart with the supplied toolkit :)

Just as an aside,
A few years back. I was at a Land-Rover off-road event in the Peak District.
All of the Rescue and Recovery vehicles were Lada Niva's !!

I went for a look and it was a bit of a heap, so I'm not buying it. The interior looked like it was a dogs house for a while, covered in hair and with bits chewed...

Ok this might help you a little with your search for a Lada.

I WILL NOT DO ANY WELDING OR ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES ME WORKING ON ONE."EVER"

I have standards and draw the line here.:yuck:

So Steve, you went to look at a Lada Samara? The thread is not that clear.

Don't tell anybody (ha ha) but I always quite liked them - I think it is because everybody took the p*ss out of them. But what do I know, I liked the Favorit too. Now that statement will come back to haunt me. I owned a Felicia (1.6i) for 2 years andit was honestly one of the best cars I have ever owned. Not as lovable as my Panda though.

my wife has a Felicia 1.6 van, its a laugh as its light and pretty quick too, however its really a VW so I dont like it! when in krakow december 2004 we saw a mint, and I mean immaculate 1978 Lada 1200 for sale... £300! I was so tempted!
