Sorry if I've missed something already discussed guys, but can you clarify for my interest and Jack's benefit - on the Configurator, the only trim available with the 1.4 is the Lounge. The Sport is available with all the other engines. Are you saying this is not, in fact correct?
If so, Jack, try a Twinair (trim and engine) as someone has suggested. They go well and have a sporty ambience.

The sport was discontinued back in April, there are some dealers with some already built ones in stock but you'd need to hunt around for those. Fiat have now brought out the "twin air" version which has a sporty look and feel to it but with a twinair engine.

Good suggestion from TrevC for Jack.(y)

If I picture myself as a 18 year old coming on the FF I too might have got a little rattled. On a off-topic note I too like Apple products and the last thing that is on 'Steve's' mind is 'lining his pockets' since his recent announcement. USAtoday quoted
With Jobs' work ethic and strong love of his job, doctors say his decision to resign as Apple CEO suggests that he must be feeling very ill.
...so it's not all about the money.

Back on topic here's a thread started by Pauk8 who 'ordered' a 1.2 Sport and eventually sourced one and by all accounts is very happy with it. Given your age I would try and sway you to set a budget and stick with the more insurance friendly option to keep your overall costs down. We've already had a 'young' guy on here who was locked into a £250 p.m payment plan and was trying to get a way out of the contract. He was trying to 'downsize' to a small payment plan with a Pop model but wasn't able to.

Thanks for the relevant replies, looked at the TAs and thats what I'm going to do if I can't get a blackjack (took a shine to those greatly) would ideally be TA blackjack but there isn't any for sale

That's if you can buy one before Stevie boy gets the EU to ban sales of them

Hey, we shouldn't be slagging off the boy just because he likes apple products. I myself have (over the years) enjoyed a number of strudels, several crumbles and even the odd turnover.

Or am I missing something?

Yes, the ability to spell "strudel" :p

I don't particularly like Apple products either, or the image associated with them. Theyre more Mini that Fiat. However, essentially it's none of our business if Jack prefers them & blatantly trying to wind the lad up was totally out of order.

Back on topic as that's what Jack has hinted he'd prefer - i think the reason the configurator still shows Sport as available is because of what people have hinted on - there is still stock in the system. The same thing happened with the Panda for a while - the old 1.1 Active & Euro 4 1.2 & 1.3 Dynamics remained on the configurator alongside the new engines for several months after they were dropped, with gradually reducing colour & option choices - i think that'll be why the 1.4 Sport has just disappeared - Fiat has completely exhausted stock in the system.

That's my theory, albeit unconfirmed by Fiat. If they left the whole range available for months after stopping orders then i'd just put it down to their historic slow updates for the website. However because engines and colours seem to gradually disappear i think the above theory kinda stacks-up. Unfortunately whilst it's quite clever, i think they may struggle to keep an accurate track on colours & options left so you might not actually be able to spec something identical to what's on the configurator when it comes to the discontinued models.

If i were Jack, i'd go to a couple of dealers & see if they can source a Sport if that's what you'd like. If not i'd take a look at the TwinAir/TwinAir Plus trim levels or the Blackjack & see if that hits the spot. I've been looking at dealer stock this week as the Parents are thinking of a 500 and it looks like there's quite a few ex demo Blackjacks & TwinAir Plus models kicking about so you should be able to have a test drive fairly nearby if you wanted. Not seen many of the more basic TwinAir trim, but you may be lucky. Tbh if you want Blue&Me then an ex demo TwinAir plus might be a better option than a brand new standard TwinAir since it will have Blue&Me - the cheaper one doesn't get it standard. Plus being a demo you'll save a few quid, possibly for an iMac ;)

Is the perception that the 1.4 engine is being phased out in the 500? The only one you can specify it with now is the Lounge (according to their website). Could it be they are making way for a (more powerful) Multiair variant, to distance it a bit more from the Twinair? They could easily maintain the difference to the A500 by tweaking that up a bit.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, Jack, but at least it's still about cars!

I raised this before where the Ypsilon is not been offered with a 1.4. At one time I thought it was on the way out but I reckon it will still be offered (in Multi-air form) along with the 'Sport Abarthy' US shape in 2012. I reckon the new Multi-air will probably be in same tune as the current Mito 105bhp as opposed to a more torque'd version of the US model with 101bhp. I don't see a 'Sporting' model with 135bhp (MA will a turbo in a lower boost mode) as with the Punto Evo being offered since it will be too close to the A500.
I reckon they will reserve the 103bhp TA engine for the Zagato (coupe) model and release it in time to the 'standard' Twin Air models.

Think I'm going to spec a new TA or get a blackjack! Won't be for a few weeks yet though, but still I want to know what's what before hand as for the apple products I love them! and I will be putting whatever money I don't spend towards a MBP, quite interested in this rumoured TA engine for next year too

I wouldn't wait for that. The current 85bhp TA might be the best choice of the 'to be' 3 stages of tune. It was proposed that they would be a non turbo 2 cylinder (if it happens it might be around 60-65bhp), the current one and then the other 103bhp but it could cost a lot more if they decide to beef up the clutch & the gearbox plus it might come with ESP (IMHO a useful extra and will probably come standard on all cars from 2012).
If you going to get a Black Jack - I wouldn't 'hang about' since they were a 'limited edition' they may not make them again.

Quite agree.

Just to let you know the 65bhp version of the TwinAir is indeed going ahead as it has been quoted in the official blurb for the new Panda. As it is non-turbo I am worried about the performance it will provide, but we'll see...

Get stoneacre to check group stock for a blackjack - there was definately one at Lincoln recently but it's not on my normal route so don't know if it's still there or not.

Seriously guys, I don't get the blackjack colour, wouldn't you have to spend half your life looking after the bodywork
