:eek:Hi all as you can see I'm jack I'm 18 and will shortly be on the road, Id just like some advice on engines and spec (going to be ordering a new 500 soon), I'm very certain it will be a sport unsure between the 1.2 1.4 and the 0.9TA also what extras are needed? Quite keen on the sun roof and blue me? For my iPhone could anyone give me some advise on this? And of course the hardest choice the colour!

New or used?

If new, you cannot order a sport depsite what the configurator says (unless there are one or two already built and unsold still).

There used ot be just 3 models, Pop (poverty spec) and Lounge/Sport which were equal in price and gave you different goodies. Lounge included a fixed glass roof. Both had B&M.

There are new spec levels now which frankly I have not got my head around - others will chip in no doubt.

iPhone will work automatically with any new or very nearly new car. slightly older and you'll need a £70 accessory that you plug into the USB.

Welcome abord and my one piece of advice: take your time and don't jump in too fast.

Hi Jack,

Welcome to the forum.

I am sure you will get plenty of responses, but as you've indicated you're 18, I was just wondering if you had got any insurance quotes first?

If not it might be a good plan to just spec up a basic 1.2 Pop first on a comparison site and see what it will cost you. There have been one or two quotes on here which are eye-watering to say the least!

Hi yes I've had quotes on all 3 and I can afford the insurance, I didn't understand there isn't a sport option anymore (very disappointed) the 1.4 sport would of been my ideal choice, was considering a blackjack too but they seem very expensive for a paint job, also it's reassuring to hear about the iPhone, will this have hands free?

Edit: I plan to take my time and make the right choice as it will be for 4 years

Ah that's good to hear!

It is a bit of a shame that your preferred option isn't about any more.

Given what you have said so far, it may be worth configurating the TwinAir spec version on the Fiat website (it's above the byGucci one, urgh!). I have not driven a TwinAir myself but it is probably going to be more similar to a 1.4 than a 1.2 would be.

You would need to add Blue and Me as an option, but that could well be a good base to start from. All in all that comes to just under £12k (if you have it in white).

Yes, insurance would be very expensive for an eighteen year old. Initial quotes for my 19 year old was an eye-watering £3600 plus!:bang: Luckily we managed to find a quote that was half the initial quote.(y)

I'm going to spec a few TA to see if I like those, don't really like the pop or lounge prefer the sporty edge so I might look at a few left over sports or blackjacks, do you think the blackjack is worth the extra ££££ and is there anyway I can configure on an iPad? And as for insurance it's going to be on my dads as I work out the country so will use the car about 4 days a month

If you buy a Blackberry Playbook you can spec a 500 on it.

On a Blackberry Playbook you could spec one, but ordering one might be a bit hard seeing as they don't make them anymore.

Thanks for the witty response even if it did answer my question ps iPads are far better than play books

....which begs the question - why haven't Fiat sorted this out bearing in mind they've just updated the layout of the website and configurator?

Answers on a postcard please!;)

I think you mean why haven't Apple sorted it out. Basically they won't allow flash onto the iPad because if they did that then no one would need to buy apps (and line Steve's pockets with cash) because everything would just run on flash for FREE without having to buy stuff in Steve's walled garden.

I think we can see the level of Jack's devotion to the Temple of Apple by the fact that the only word he has made the effort to spell correctly (even though the capital letter is in a stupid place) is iPad.

I'm not really interested in the spelling lesson and off topic talk, my iPad spells iPad like that on its own thanks, now back on topic...
