At which point you're paying higher electricity prices...as rapid chargers are bloody expensive to the point your cost per mile is similar to petrol car in some cases.

In many ways what's the difference between charging once a week for 7 hours or once a fortnight for 14?.

Nothing except the battery pack in one car costs half as much.

At present given UK infrastructure spending 22kw home chargers are likely to remain rocking horse poo.
These days a lot of houses are being built new with 3 phase in place as well as there still being quite a lot of old houses that do have 3 phase. no its not common certainly the majority do not have it but there is a big demand from people to be upgraded to 3 phase specifically for this purpose.

There is some talk of it becoming a requirement on all new builds to have 3 phase in place.

22kw on 3 phase is only 50A, smaller cables, but means 415v in domestic houses, the deadliest of voltage

:p:p:p Was wondering if anyone knew 3 phase power calculation.
50 divided by root 3

That's the reason Nissan (Renault) have small hybrid batteries, i thought it was silly at first, but makes no difference in a hybrid. 1.2kWh just means the charge use cycle is quicker than a big battery.

Yeah, bugged me when i wrote it, then thought nobody would really know, been too long ago since i had to use it.

Fluke.... another of Danaher scum

Walk around video.

I wonder if the right hand drive has a full glovebox or the long running curse of PSA fuseboxes continues.

If it's a completely new platform... there might be hope. On the DS3 the owners manual folder couldn't even fit in

But the worst part is, the fuse box being where it is STILL isn't any more convenient as you need to be able to reach through very small, sharp edge hatches and up or down to access particular fuse arrays like for doing the dashcam wiring etc. Not even convenience as a justification!

Edit: Ugh, just watching that ladies review. The interior REEKS of PSA / modern Vauxhall. The door card tops are bare, reminiscent of the Cactus interior... The rear seats look very Citroen-esque with the miniature details across the three positions, when she scrolled across on the touch screen I have PTSD flashbacks to the Grandland's 'decent resolution, but laggy animation' operation... When she's sitting in the back my eyes are drawn to how badly the door card fits on the right, with an inconsistent edge partly showing the paintwork but veering off, looks like it's put on wrong (or more likely, just poorly designed to be slapped on to the C3)

I'm not slamming it, it's a nice looking, modern, quirky interior but other than the front seats and the Fiat logo, I see very little Fiat in it. I want to say the Italian people won't stand for it, given their pride in their cars and design, but if they're anything like us (mass buying Chinese tat 'MG's because they have a formerly British badge) then who knows, this will probably be a big seller, continue on the name, and the rest will become history.

No spare wheel? Bodywork looks like it has no space for it even as an option?

It's a panda, you expect cheap and nasty from the lowest of the fiat range, the key thing needs to be the price must be cheap.

I'd say this is heading for cheap and cheerful depending on how it drives.

Which is what it needs to be as Chinese have cheap and nasty sewn up.

No spare wheel is due to battery under the floor, on ice C3s you can have one so may be the case here "preparation" is a 20 quid option.

The interior...is nothing like recent Fiat interiors more like older Fiats eg MK2 and MK1 puntos with fabric door cards. Personally I'm very glad as every interior since the launch of the Grande Punto was bloody awful like someone had a premium interior described over the phone and made it on a budget of 30p.

Small headrests and seatbelts are a requirement of fitting 5 seats in a small car. Some manufacturers eg. Toyota don't bother and will only sell a 4 seat small car (remember this is going to be cheaper than an Aygo X nevermind the similarly sized Yaris).

In fact Let us amuse ourselves with the Toyota equivalent for some perspective.

Oh and it's if it's owt like the infotainment in mine there will be a tick box in settings marked "I don't want the **** animation thanks" which stops the animation and you having to wait for it. That may not be what it's actually called...

The Aygo is definitely a nasty enough example of a car - despite the badge. Though it’s an improvement over the outgoing PSA one, it looks like it had a £30 Argos microwave built into the dash. I must admit Toyota’s infotainment systems are worse than the Grandland’s, at least the Avensis one is. Even the Lexus ones leave a lot to be desired, but at least they’re responsive enough to live with.

Well, I suppose. But the current model is very much cheap… and rugged. There is a quality feel to it, as there was with the 2003 models. Yes - plastic is plastic, and plastic is cheap. But there are flimsy, nasty and poorly finished ones (Suzuki Celerio dash was a master class in this, as were the look and feel of circa 2010 Toyotas). But the current / outgoing Panda, that’s filled with plastic but the kind that doesn’t flex so easy, doesn’t acquire permanent Scratching from looking at it wrong and manages to look good at the same time.

I think the trouble comes when cheap / low position cars try to pretend to be things they’re not: luxury… premium… sporty… high end. They inevitably fail. When they try to just be good at what they are, we end up with the last two Panda models. Unassuming, that was my favourite word for this idea.

Just to sum up how ridiculous this “review” is based on watching someone else’s video without actually seeing the car for yourself and getting hands on with it

I’ve owned loads of fiats now as well as driven countless others, door cars tops are bare? I am not sure what you’re expecting to see here ?
The rear seats look very Citroen-esque with the miniature details across the three positions,
? This is based on what exactly, as far as I can see in the video it is just a seat and pretty standard and in keeping with fiats since about 2013.
when she scrolled across on the touch screen I have PTSD flashbacks to the Grandland's 'decent resolution, but laggy animation' operation...
this is shown on screen for no more than about 1second she scrolls a menu of some sort once left and the. Back to the to the right. It appears to respond appropriately to here in the video I’m not sure that is sufficient screen time to decide it’s “laggy” and as stated above you can turn off animations
When she's sitting in the back my eyes are drawn to how badly the door card fits on the right, with an inconsistent edge partly showing the paintwork but veering off, looks like it's put on wrong (or more likely, just poorly designed to be slapped on to the C3)
Is this what we are complaining about?

Let’s not forget what we’re comparing it to

If you’re going to make statements like this then you need to quantify what “Fiat” is and what is quintessentially “fiat” and how that is lacking from this car???

I want to say the Italian people won't stand for it, given their pride in their cars and design,
No previous panda was some sleek race car it was a square and boxy design and this car is going to tick a lot of boxes
No spare wheel? Bodywork looks like it has no space for it even as an option
They literally showed under the boot floor with no space for a spare wheels

This whole reply above is just hunting to pick holes in it, and if that’s the best you can do, then I’d say it’s a pretty well build car.
Which for someone who has never bought a brand new car
and someone who proclaims to live the panda but bought a Lexus instead is just laughable

I’m sure I won’t get a reply to this but had to highlight the hypocrisy

To my eye it reminds me of this style of Fiat interior.

Stick a touchscreen in the middle of that and add a "Bamboo box" where the airbag is passenger side and squircle wheel with modern gauges.

To borrow a picture from earlier in the thread not the clearest but similar angle.

Yes it's more modern but just because it's not like recent Fiats doesn't mean it's not like a Fiat..

The bamboo is an interesting touch, in keeping with the Panda theme and all that, but I've read on here (and other places online) that the Panda namesake is apparently not the bear, but some goddess of travel? (Empanda?)

Still, Fiat has multiple times referenced the bear in marketing materials and events, so this only adds weight to the name being the bear after all.

I quite liked where they were going with the 03 and 12 models. The mini MPV sort of shape down to city car size. Narrow body. Raised up central gear stick (albeit redundant in the EV models).

There's nothing wrong whatsoever with the Citroen C3, it's just... I don't really want one and probably, most Panda buyers from the 80s until now who've kept buying Panda's.. probably don't want a C3 either. It was a bigger class, and whilst it's always been relatively cheap, usually more than the Panda - until the recent UK-flation applied to the UK price for the current/outgoing Panda though which artificially brought it on par with the outgoing C3.

Not trying to 'rip apart' the new Panda in any way, it's nice but I can't be the only one who feels like, it's just not a Panda. In various, objective ways, class being the big one.

RIP to the A-Segment. If all we're left with is the current Aygo and a couple of others in that league... truly, it's dead.

Edit: oh, and when I call it a Citroen C3, that's not to be an insult. It's like how people call the 124 a Mazda... but actually, at least the 124 had a Fiat engine, and panels. This just has the panels. Even the Punto sharing the platform with the Corsa, didn't re-use the same radio units or anything. And that big Fiat pick up truck for sale here... that's hardly a Fiat either, "but it is" you can say. Maybe it's just a modern thing "they identify as a Fiat", and maybe I'm just guilty of challenging that eh? lol

I agree this new car, as well as Fiat’s push for more colour and returning to the older 4 slashes badge all had a very 90s feel about it, the 90s are very much in fashion at the moment and maybe fiat actually know who their target audience are and what they like?

I think it was Rolls Royce who outright said if you don’t like our cars then (basically they don’t care) they didn’t make it for you.

The same very much applies in this situation, if you don’t like it, that’s very much a you problem.

This new panda is small, cheap and has a lot of funky little details that a lot of people are going to like especially the Italians, I don’t doubt it’s going to sell well
