How hard is it to take off the inlet manifold ?

Of course it is, that is obvious from how the engine is running. And as I've mentioned, since you had a TB related error stored, that is the place to start in identifying what's causing the problem. It's not 100% sure the TB or sensor are causing it, could be a worn gasket on the intake manifold. You gotta find it.

The car is 10 years old, so the nuts on the manifold will be rusted but probably come off without too much issue. You could take a picture of them and upload it if you want a better opinion.
Is there a guide of some sort somewhere?
Ive tried looking.
Just went through the whole workshop manual and couldn't find anything.
Sorry for being a pain.
 
From the looks of it, it's five bolts at the bottom and one bolt at the top that needs taking out. After that make sure all the connectors are disconnected and to wiggle the manifold out?

I'm assuming the bolts will be accessed from underneath the car?
 
I don't know how it is exactly on your engine, but by the looks of it you are right, those are the bolts/nuts. With proper tools you should be able to access them from above, I think.
But... don't jump on taking the manifold off yet. You gotta test to know exactly what's causing the problem. If it's those gaskets in the picture, to test it you must spray inflammable gas around them while the engine is running. If it's them, the engine will revv up when you do so. But there are more accessible points with gasket on the manifold, you gotta test them too. Anything is attached to manifold has a gasket, the throttle body, the MAP sensor...
And also the throttle body + throtlle sensor themselves are on the suspect list. Because the intake air flow is controlled and goes in through the TB. So if those failed, that is the cause, more air goes in and ECU puts more fuel to have the correct air/fuel ratio, that's what's leading to the engine revving up for itself. This is what you gotta find out, which is the point where air gets in. If you are willing to replace every manifold gasket, knowing they are old, you can proceed and do that, buy a set of new gaskets. If that doesn't fix it means the TB is causing it.
