Hello all,

Just got my Fiat 500 2011 By Diesel with 1.4 100HP engine. Spent decent time and money on it, even got a MES scanner for re-learning the flap motor's position and clear the pre-exist error code. Right now it's almost good in every aspects except some wear and tear that will leak my pocket.
I've got several questions though, 1st, the analog speedometer which seems consistently faster than GPS speed by 5km/h when under 70km/h and 10 km/h when over 70km/h. Is there a way to calibrate this? 2nd, I really hate the hill assistant as it's against my instinct, is there a way to turn it off with MES?
Many thanks in advance!

I think all speedometers are out compared to GPS devices. And there’s always a percentage I believe, which is why the police may or may not add a degree of leeway to ‘speeding’ offences.

It's completely normal for speedo's to be out ... on any brand car

There's one thing they can't be is reading low, because you'd have a case with the manufacturer if you did indeed get a speeding fine when the dial read 40 and you were actually doing 45, so they always read high...

GPS is way more accurate.

As for the hill start assist, you can usually disable these systems by pulling the handbrake on just one notch, but that may eventually throw a "you've left the handbrake on" error/warning.
This is all sensed from the switches on the handbrake and the brake pedal (usually two on the brake pedal: one for the lights signalling (i.e. you're pressing the pedal) and the other to sense you're not riding the pedal.

While I understand there will always be a gap between the GPS speed and the speedometer speed, it is kind of awkward to deal with this large and inconsistent gap (5 to 10 based on current speed). I have a VW Polo which constantly has a 2km/h gap between speedometer and GPS, which is quite stable and user-friendly. VW also could disable the hill assistant with VCDS, while for the Fiat this seems not possible.

My 2013 Twinair displays 5km over at 100kph so 10km over at 70kph seems excessive. Due to the speedo and central display being largely invisible on bright sunny days here, due to reflection off the ivory cowling, I installed a HUD GPS display and rely solely on that - at least I know that' always spot on. 🙃

Obvious question..

Standards wheels and Gearbox?

Lower profile tyres than it left the factory..?

If it has factory Cruise Control.. Does it work in every gear?
