Multipla Glopsy

Introduction

Here's my new Multi, pictured on the day I picked her up, resplendent in what looks like a years worth of road grime

I've serviced her, fixed numerous electrical issues including getting the remote CL working again and got her through an MOT a few days ago.

Next up is a drive belt tensioner change, as mine makes a real racket, bleed the clutch to see if I can get a better pedal, change the gearbox oil and then try and find a pair of roof bars before our holiday in May :)
Well, I'm ashamed to say that I gave Glopsy's interior 3 passes with my carpet cleaner and the first two resulted in the waste tank looking like Guinness!
The seats, although quite worn in the front, came up quite well and have definitely got more colour than before.

Front brakes have bedded in and along with the new rear shoes have really improved stopping power.

I'm still in a dilemma about letting her go due to ULEZ,as she just does everything I need a car to do. I really should have done the clutch, but that probably won't get done by me.

If I had the time and money I'd genuinely love to restore her to as close to new as I could get,as they are getting rarer by the day and I still think they'll be an appreciating classic one day.

Its a shame how many Multiplas are going to that great scrapyard in the sky due to ULEZ, made all the more ironic that Sadiq Khan is now charging congestion charge on electric vehicles- none of it was about the environment, it was all about getting more money from the motorist

I had a similar desire to get my Multiplas back to factory fresh along with all of the bells and whistles that were available.

Now I am left with a whole load of genuine Fiat Multipla parts left over that are specific to the Multipla and no good for any other Fiat
please let me know if you are interested:
Fiat Multipla roof rails
Fiat Multipla clip in sun blinds
Fiat Multipla 'Fiat' branded luxury fitted carpet set
Fiat Multipla factory alarm
Fiat Multipla factory/dealership workshop manual
Fiat Multipla spare switches/light fixtures and random bits picked off before the car went to the scrapyard

Its very interesting to see the evolution of the car. How many miles are on the clock now?

It would be a shame to get rid of it because of ulez. I'm not sure how much it costs though.

She's done around 132k so far, and is running rather well following the gearbox oil change.
Nice, plenty of miles left if you can get passed ULEZ.

You could try to do some calculations to see if its financially worth keeping the car.

For example calculate how much ULEZ plus typical maintenance costs will be in a given year.

Then compare how much another car without ULEZ would cost.

This car (GL 03 PSY) is on an '03' plate and is not ULEZ compliant

ULEZ does not apply to petrol vehicles registered after 2005 and diesels registered after 2015
There were some 'early adopters' that met Euro emission standards before these dates, but the Multipla was not one of them
My Japanese imported Multipla did not meet standards either, despite their standards being stricter than the Euro standards

ULEZ charge is £12.50 a day to non-compliant vehicles to enter the zone

I'm in Cheshire, probably Manchester has some ULEZ, maybe Liverpool but I don't need to go to the big cities often. Last time I was in Birmingham I entered the ULEZ and was really annoyed, before realising my car wasn't chargeable anyway.

Noticed a slight noise on tickover and on inspection it looks like I've got a slight wobble from the crank pulley.
Am I right in assuming it's just a case of undoing the 4 m8 ribe bolts, removing old pulley and replacing it with a new one?
Any recommendations for any particular brand if pulley?

The tension has to be taken off the aux belt , bit awkward and needs a 15mm or 16mm spanner(can't reminder of hand but know it's unusual size) yes to the 4 small bolts holding crank pulley. The 4 bolts may be ribe key if original fiat. 28nm torque.
Gates brand or Dayco.

Ha ha your very first post on this thread 8 years ago was re the aux belt tensioner !

Evening all. Looking to change my crank pulley as I think it may be the cause of a knock, but none of the ones I can find look like the one fitted,as in they don't have the two outer cut outs?
Am I missing something or are there differences?

Whilst reversing into a parking spot last night,I noticed that I didn't have any brake lights, so this morning I whipped out the switch and gave it a squirt of contact cleaner.
The plunger was a bit sticky, but all now appears to be working, although I have bought a new switch just in case.
Removal was quite straightforward, with just a 14mm spanner required to turn it slightly anticlockwise to release it from the bracket.

My new crank pulley arrives today and if I get a chance, I'll fit that on Friday.

New crank pulley fitted today, and what a difference it's made. The old one had been making a really awful noise for the past couple of days and was definitely not running true, but the new one has cured both the noise and belt wobble.
