Multipla Glopsy

Introduction

Here's my new Multi, pictured on the day I picked her up, resplendent in what looks like a years worth of road grime

I've serviced her, fixed numerous electrical issues including getting the remote CL working again and got her through an MOT a few days ago.

Next up is a drive belt tensioner change, as mine makes a real racket, bleed the clutch to see if I can get a better pedal, change the gearbox oil and then try and find a pair of roof bars before our holiday in May :)
Could it be the seals on the clutch master cylinder?

I bought a 147 master cylinder and took the piston and spring out and switched it over.
The hydraulic system appears to be working and leak free. The slave is moving the clutch arm, but there's very little resistance,so something has broken internally.

The classic master cylinder problem is that the return spring that sits inside the bore snaps, so the pedal doesn't return to the 'up' position. The cylinder seal can also go, but that gives a witness in drips of brake fluid on the footwell mat. Both can be fixed with the master cylinder in place. It's fiddly, but infinitely preferable to changing the whole master cylinder, which is a pig of a job.

It doesn't sound to me as though either of those apply here, unfortunately, I reckon it's the clutch itself that's gone . Would be a real shame to see Glopsy die just for want of a new clutch though. The round nose is becoming a rare sight these days, around here anyway. Is there no cuuning plan you can come up with to save her?

My dilemma is I need a car for daily duties, and with work and a young family I just don't have the time to get engrossed in things like a gearbox out job.
It's such a shame, especially given the recent new brakes/ tyres and suspension etc. but I guess that's the gamble with running older cars.
As it stands, Glopsy would make a great spares car for someone and I'll genuinely be sad to see her go, but would rather that than the scrap man crushing her.

Unfortunately, it's not the spring on Glopsy,as the hydraulic side works fine, and the pedal returns as normal.
I really need to sort out a car for work etc. so it looks like Glopsy will need to move on to pastures new.
If anyone wants to make me an offer for her, please do, as she's got so many good parts that could keep another bug going,or indeed, you could gamble on doing the clutch.
Let me know .

A truly sad day. I had absolutely no interest from anyone wanting her, so off to be turned into bean cans.
I took off quite a few parts- working spare wheel winch, space saver, front indicators, towbar, rear fitted mat, parcel shelf, rear central seat belt mech, sunroof switches, bits of plastic trim, radio, gearstick and handbrake covers, rear wiper arm, rear boot side covers, wheel centre caps, roof bars, aerial, jack, bonnet struts and every bulb in the car!
I'm still on the lookout for another.
The DVLA also refused to let me keep the reg, stating it was non transferable.

Gutted.....If it wasn't for poor health I would have gladly had her here with her sister

I bet that plate will turn up on the DVLA auction site within a year... Had the Multipla's MOT expired or had it been written off in its past?
I know you cannot put a car's number plate on retention if it does not have a valid MOT. I think also if the car had been written off previously the DVLA permanently allocate the number plate to the car. You can put a private plate on it, but when you take it off it will revert back to the non-transferable plate - which makes sense.
The V5 should have had non-transferable number plate mentioned on it.

Anyway a shame to see it go... Time for another???

Very sad. A real shame. I know how you feel as personal circumstances meant I had to do the same with two of my other cars that were on SORN's. They went off on a breaker's truck last year, just like in your photo. It's heartbreaking, especially when you've owned them for a long time. I felt like I'd let them down, in some way.
