General Fiat Stilo Abarth 2.4L 20v Turbo!

Bit of blow today and may hold the project back a bit, after nine months on suspension, I was dismissed from work today, what a blow!!

Still, all parts have been paid for and just awaiting the con-rods, pistons and camshafts.

Just my job hunting may slow the process down a bit?

Bummer. Good luck finding a new job and getting the project flowing again. (y)

Just a few more pictures to keep your appetite going of the modification to the radiator fan, stock inter-cooler and a final mock-up of the cylinder head and ancillary equipment, notice the cat down-pipe, over £800.00!!!! Am I mad? probably, but you only live once and I don't drink or smoke so that's my excuse for spending this money!

Just out of curiosity, would you think the existing water cooled oil cooler be sufficient for this project or would it have to be the air cooled one as fitted to the Coupe. I have noticed that the Lancia Thesis 2.0 20V Turbo, uses the same water cooled oil cooler as the Stilo Abarth.

If this was the case, it would be an awful lot easier to fit than trying to fabricate brackets and pipes to place the air cooled radiator in front of the AC radiator, which as far as I can see is the only place it could go?

Just found out that the Stilo 1.9JTD 150hp version has an oil cooler as like the Fiat Coupe Turbo. If anyone has got a Stilo 1.9JTD 150hp version, could you send me a picture of where it is situated, I'm assuming its in the offside front wheel arch, but really need a picture of how it is fixed in.

the 150 mjtd stilo only went on sale late 2005.

my 115 jtd went on sale 2003 onwards.

will try and have a look for you tomorrow.

edit:

my mechanic friend just advised me it is air cooled on my 2005 stilo.

coop turbo is about the only option i assume?

I did think this but when you look-up the standard pump for the coupe turbo, it does not share this part with any other model in the Fiat portfolio. I also looked up the normally aspirated fuel pump for the 5 pot coupe, and again, this part is not shared with any other model. Therefore, I'm assuming that if I bought an aftermarket uprated pump for the coupe turbo, it would only fit the coupe turbo?

It's the same for the Stilo, although in both circumstances, it's been the complete unit I've been comparing, so the only difference may be in the float and arm only? Without having one to compare, I'm in the dark.

bit of a stab in the dark really, might be best to get a coop turbo tank and pump from a scrappy to test out?

Just been told by JP4mance Tuning Parts,

The Walbro 255 lph Fuel Pump kit for Fiat coupe 20v turbo itself will work fine inside the petrol tank. The fitting kit isn't specific to the Fiat it's universal or generic and works with the pump. It may need some small modifications for fitment such as an extra cable tie or jubilee clip but it will function as intended. .

So question answered, this is what I will get

The wheels without tyres will be for sale soon, just waiting for the wheel centres to be sprayed and the new "Fiat" badges stuck-on. I'm replacing the wheels with Compomotive - Motor-sport Wheels TH2-1775, which are being manufactured with a 25mm offset, so I can remove the spacers for the Brembo GT calipers. Delivery will take 2-3 weeks, so the gold wheels will go up for sale once these new ones are fitted.

Anybody interested, in about a months time, in this set of 5 refurbished gold Fiat Speedline Alloys with new centre caps and "Fiat" emblems?

Fiat Stilo Abarth 2.4L 20V Turbo Conversion

Can anybody send me, or post a picture of where the independent oil cooler is mounted on the late Stilo Diesel Turbo 16v 150hp (M92 version in the parts CD), I need an actual photo of the real thing, not a picture taken off the parts CD.

Hope someone can help!

Re: Fiat Stilo Abarth 2.4L 20V Turbo Conversion

Fit it where the Fiat coupe 20VT has it - Offside front - you can probably use all the pipes as far as I can tell. Use a 20VT sump as it has the feeds built into it.
