Hi guys

Im new to the forum and this will be my 1st and im sure not last post here, so here we go.

My daughter passed her test a few months back and i bought her a 2015 lounge had low mileage and seemed like a really decent car, i bought from a trader and had a few issues with the car after purchase, instrument cluster started flashing after the first day we had the car and the aircon condenser had a hole in it, to the traders credit he sorted both problems out without any issues.

So brings me to the clutch issue, day after we bought the car we were driving it and we were stuck in traffic car had been fine upto that point as far as the clutch was concerned, i tried to put the car in 1st gear when traffic started moving and it wouldnt go in, took my foot off the clutch and back on still wouldnt go in, turned the car on and off still no 1st gear so had to put my hazzards on and mess about pumping clutch and messing about and eventually it went into gear and drove with no problems, that was about 3 months ago and its been ok since which brings me to today.

My daughter again was stuck in traffic stop start every minute and the car started doing the same thing, she couldnt get it into gear, she kept having to turn the car off and then back on which worked for a while but then even that didnt help either, she said the clutch seemed like it was on the floor and as soon as she lifter her foot slightly the car started moving, she managed to get the car back to me but she had to do it in first gear as she couldnt change gear, i went out to see and when i got in the car the clutch was back to how it should be, pulled away as it should, pedal was around halfway, i drove around for half hour in it and had no problems with it, changed gear as it should without issue, but i know thats exactly how it was 3 months ago when it wouldnt go into gear although this time it lasted alot longer.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Thanks all

Sounds like clutch hydraulics to me.

Slave cylinder is only plastic and can get hot and sticky in traffic.

Could also be master cylinder sucking air past the seals.

But slave failure is much more common. Cheaper and easier to fix too. So I'd start there.

How's the fluid level? Any leaks visible at master, slave, or inline connector inside left front wheel arch?

Replacement slave cylinders usually come with pipe and quick connector. Don't attempt to disconnect the connector. Remove the pipes from the cylinders and connect new slave to old pipe, and bleed.

So tried to look earlier, i was obviously able to look at fluid level which was over filled, the master cylinder looked fine with no leaks, i removed the battery and tried to remove the battery tray so i could get to the slave cylinder underneath but i couldnt get the tray out, i saw a video on how to do it but mine has ECU and all sorts attached to it in the video it didnt have anything and i didnt want to start pulling things apart as i can be too heavy handed and didnt want to damage anything, i could see the slave cylinder just about and it did look grimey but i couldnt really see if it was leaking or not.

Is the inline connector under the arch liner or just in the arch?

Lastly i have seen alot of replacement slave cylinders on Ebay but i have no clue which one is right for my car, i have a 2015 1.2 lounge if anyone could link me to the right one would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Would any of these be the right one?
