Hi everyone.

I'm new to Fiat as I recently bought a little 2018 Fiat 500 Lounge for my wife. However, we've been experiencing some issues and I'm hoping the experts on here might be able point me in the right direction for a fix.

We've owned the car for a couple of months and it ran flawlessly until a week ago when out of the blue it just stopped working. On turning the key, all the normal lights came on on the dash but the engine would not turn over.

I did a little research on here as well as on YouTube and though I'd found the culprit in the earth strap. I changed this and after charging the battery, which seemed fine, the car started up and seemed to be back to normal again. One thing I did notice however was that I could start the engine without depressing the clutch. In a car with stop-start this shouldn't be possible as I understand it (?).

A couple of days later it stopped again. Same issue as before. Again, battery seemed fine. At this point I started looking towards the clutch position sensor as I thought this might be causing the issue. I bought a replacement part, took out the drivers seat and after some contortion and a few course words I had it fitted. I then tried to start the car, without depressing the clutch to see if my suspicions were correct. To my massive disappointment, the car turned over (but didn't start). The next try it tried to start again but the battery gave out, which really confused me.

So, my next plan is to replace the battery with a new stop/start model but I'm not sure this is the real issue.

Does anyone have any ideas for what might be the problem as I cant afford to loose much more hair!

Any suggestions gratefully received, and thanks for your time.
