Evening all,
Just purchased a 2016 500 Lounge for my daughter and noticed the rear window is not fully demisting. Top bar and 2 bars further down the window work, but the others don't. Any ideas suggestions as to why this is? Is it a known/common fault? How can it be repaired? Would the window need replacing and how easy is to replace the rear window.

Thanks in advance Tony

That is a damaged hrw element. They are not easy to repair but you can get conductive paint. I have done several screens on different cars, but the results have not been consistent. Otherwise its a new screen.

If you do use conducting paint, and it does work, mask each side of the element with plastic tape to give a very neat clean line/repair?
You can often see the break from outside, if several are off close together you may notice a scrape line where something has scored the tracks when the lid is closed?

John, on closer inspection I can see a number of the rear screen wires are discoloured, I think broken and so may need to try the electrical conductive paint. You suggest plastic tape, ie electrical rather than masking tape? Any paint recommendations or what I find on Amazon? Thank you.

Thanks Panda Nut, I will try to repaint the screen, but if I need to replace it any ideas suggestions as to where to get one at a reasonable cost?

No, other than a breaker, and pay a glass tech to get it out and reinstall. It might well be as bad. You need to look very carefully to see the damage. My last one on the Panda 100 had been wrecked by some one heavy handedly cleaning the screen. Although the lines appeared ok the conductive part had been scrubbed away, so it was beyond repair. I lived with it.

Yes I used plastic tape for a clean line, any quality paint typically contains silver, should work, when I used it the break was only 1mm so very easy to fix
