Hi
I have been trying since January (2016) to obtain from Fiat Van Dealers an extra long (L4) extra high (H3) Ducato van with passenger air bag, for a professional conversion to my own design. The converter will build it to my specs but I (also the converter and the van dealers) cannot obtain one to order from the factory) I visited The Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC and spoken to "Fiat Professional" on their stand, who still thought you could order the 3L engine. They passed me on to their head office, who were very good, but did not know anymore about this problem. They phoned the Fiat dealer who informed them that Fiat was no longer making this van! At the show I spoke to several Motorhome manufactures, but many of them pre-order the bog standard 2.3L 130 Chassis Cab by the hundreds! So not much help there then! Filtering a lot of information gleaned by word of mouth it seems that Fiat are not at present suppling new factory ordered 5E+ L4H3 ( or possibly any variant with the 3L engine ) until maybe after the new regulations come into force for Euro 6 (Sept. 2016 I believe ). This will utilize the "AdBlue SCR" system I think. So all 2017 Fiat Ducatos will be Euro 6. It may also mean that all other "2016 Factory ordered Ducatos" will be Euro 6!
Has anybody got any other information on this or can help with locating a suitable vehicle (must have passenger airbag). Even a second hand low mileage version could be used.

...I understand that there have been some delays introduced into the system for the longer/larger vans by a paint shop outage.

These delays are contributing to the issues surrounding Euro 6, as presumably more van orders are now going to miss the deadline for compliance.

There is little doubt that if this is the case, there will be a lot of confusion out there.

There has been a huge amount of debate about which engines will make it through to Euro 6, (and the technology which will be used for compliance) but there is an increasing weight of opinion and evidence that the 3-litre won't (and will be replaced by a further power and torque enhanced version of the 2.3-litre.

This thread wanders a bit, but does have some useful information:
