I have seen a lot of threads about doblo 1.3 white smoking from cold start up and hunting/ smelling of unburnt fuel, then clearing once driven. Has anyone found a resolution to this?

Assuming your are talking about a 1.3 MJ diesel and only from cold.
In general terms white smoke and possible longer cranking before engine fires up, also worse in cold weather is linked to heater plugs or low compression. So the white smoke is unburnt fuel. If issue also happens when warm then DPF issues etc.
The other name for a diesel engine is CI (Compression Ignition) as in no compression no ignition.:)
Hopefully yours is the cheaper issue as in heater plugs or relay that operates them.
So that is where I would look first.
If your engine is turning over very slowly that will exaggerate the problem, so it is worth making sure you have a good fully charged battery, leads and starter motor.

What does the dashboard tell you?

Glow plug symbol: on for how long.. Does it flash after? 🤔

How long until temp. Shows on gauge?

What was it like last winter? 🙂

Hi, thanks for reply, starts instantly even with the temp being down around zero. Just fitted 1 new glow plug as when scanned no1 plug was open circuit. Van came to me with a rattling chain so it has just had new chain, timing cover etc. Timing is pinned and right, there are many people listing this exact issue but with no resolution on this 1.3cdti engine. After half a mile of driving the white smoke clears. It will hunt a little and smells strongly of unburnt fuel when smoking. No faults in engine ecu

Would this not stick at any other time than a cold start ? I will blank it off and see if it improves
