It could be a safety issue. Do they know this?

By the way, the pedal isn't getting trapped by a mat is it, or a bit of loose trim under the steering column? I'm sure it isn't as you must have wondered about this, but I just thought I'd mention it.

And have you ever been with your wife when it happened, or been out with her for a long drive to see exactly what is going on?

My car, second hand from a dealer, came with a poor door seal that made the car very noisy above 55/70 mph. My suspicion is that the previous owner never drove quickly and anyway probably didn't care anyway. It was slight with a tailwind and truly awful with a sidewind, the draught inside was palpable. The dealer took my complaint on trust, had a good look at the seal with me present and suggested re-hanging the door, which they did within the hour - job done - no noise. I was impressed as they didn't treat me like a fool, listened to me and accepted what I told them without insisting on a drive in the car. I'm happy with my dealer but I know full well that if I wasn't I'd not buy another car from them.

I would give it a last check yourself and then go to the dealer and tell them that this could be a safety issue. That might encourage them to do the job properly. Otherwise refuse the car and let them make an issue out of it.

If it is Arnold clarke in Aberdeen as per my last post. Unless the fault happens to them on a test drive they will not investigate any further and give you a "no fault found".

I hate them for it, and they are very blunt in how they say it. I am pretty sure it is a standard responce aswell because when i took my evo in for a noise in the AC i showed the DET the noise. he said he could hear it. When i picked the car up they said no fault found. When they saw my vains twitch and realised I was about to explode in anger they suddenly said "Oh wait, we are ordering in a AC compresser".

3rd year warrenty is even worse, they make you pay for the diagnoses of the fault just in case Fiat don't authorise the remedial work.
It's not Arnold Clark in Aberdeen (fortunately by the sound of your problems, Ransoman). I've driven it as well but it only seems to be first thing in the morning then it's no problem for the rest of the day.
Now been told that both master and slave cylinder have been replaced. The salesman is going to drive it tomorrow morning and if all is well she'll get it back later tomorrow.....fingers are crossed.
