Bought a Seicento a month ago, passed my test and got insured yesterday. On my way to work today, after 100 miles, the clutch lever goes floppy in standstill traffic and I had to push it up the road...

Luckily they're pretty cheap to replace - how easy are they to fit? It's a 1.1 Sporting.

They're standing on your head awkward.

It helps to remove the passenger seat (4 bolts). You need to remove the code box from the passenger footwell 4 nuts, one electrical connector, then the cover for the brake servo (3 IIRC cross head screws). The top screw is an absolute pig to get at, but it can be done (just) without removing. The rest is relatively easy.

But be aware that a broken clutch cable generally means that the clutch is at the end of its useful life.

That's alright, I've spent ages on my head in the passenger footwell for this car. Could you link me to a guide for it?

It's awkward but doable. Seat out easier, lying upside down is for the young.

I've had 2 snapped in the past. The mileage was low and clutch was fine. Just the cable.

On both occasions I drove home clutchless - one occasion in Sheffield rush-hour traffic. Stop-start is the hardest part but it's all doable.

I followed the guide for the 899 Seicento and it worked fine.

£18 for the cable and three hours of my time is much better than spending loads on a garage fixing it!
