General Arnold Clark 1.2 500 Sport supply problem .

If you are looking to purchase under PCP some of the finance deals are very attractive but they may limit your choice of models. In the past the Lounge was offering a more attractive rate that the Sport and the Abarth would possibly be not as good as some of the 'newer' models. Someone else who has recently bought on PCP would be better able to advise than me. For me personally I would focus on buying the 'right' model that your budget can stretch to so organising test drives in 1.2 and Twin Air would be the 'thing' to do. My experience in Ireland is that most of the dealers will price match on new cars.
They were offering a good rate on the PCP with the sport and lounge models . My sensible head thinks it will probably be best to avoid the Abarth purely because the other models have more affordable running costs . Also I don't think that my other half would be too thrilled with the Abarth model particularly since I rejected the " Gucci " model that she wanted ! ( I didn't want to look like an extra from The Only Way Is Essex ! )
Apologies to those who have one but it is just too " bling " for me !

No one on here so far as a By Gucci Gucci Goo model thankfully. Personally I would go for a 1.2 lounge with a spoiler if that's what you want :) If you must have a sportier look then go for the twinair :)

The OP's probably the kind of person to kick off at the sales assistant every time a shop runs out of stock or stops selling something.

On a recent post my OH would be of the same mindset as your OH and I would buy her anyhing (within reason of course :)) to keep her happy. She was quite enamoured with the Gucci model and funnily enough I am as well but I wouldn't pay the Abarth price that they are looking for their 1.2 (£14,800  ). One guy who was in this price bracket switched his order from the TA to A500.
I get the feeling that you might be more comfortable in a 1.2 Black model and here are some pictures of one along with Maxi's very useful 'Guide'. I did contemplate buying a '09 Black 1.2 Sport last March and the guy who had originally bought it decided to retrofit the chrome kit to 'lift' the car. I myself had a '08 Sport 1.4 Black with red leather and it had the chrome kit. On other colours e.g. Red I prefer the 500 to be de-chromed for a more retro look.
Will the car be for both of you to drive or will your OH be the main driver ?

Fiat had a couple of Guccis at Goodwood Festival of Speed, but I was too embarrassed to take a closer look. Fiat 500 by M&S ( Per Una or something ) might work better in the UK. Always a huge collection of white 500s at our out of town M&S - Hedge End
Southampton .

Although now a happy Mito owner, I like the look of this.

Good find Murano16V - if you were opting for a dark colour in the Twin Air IMHO it would be a good choice. I thought it was expensive but then I realised it had black leather. Surprised to see on the configurator that you cannot spec red leather. I'm assuming that it's possible to get PCP finance on secondhand cars.

Something about the Twinair + not right, perhaps the wheels - its trying too hard. Would be nice to start with a 500 base model and let you add any engine any body colour.

Realise that this is a bit of a contradiction on the previous post but if I had to have the black alloys (as in - no choice) I would prefer the 'wavey' ones on the standard 'Twin Air' model and if you could go with a light colour it would give a nice contrast. But the OP seems to have a preference for Black but keeping my 'last black one' clean nearly killed me hence the change to my current colour.:) IMHO spraying the 16 5o-spokes in black doesn't do for me.

I wonder if the basic feminine 500 shape with the cute face does not suit the more aggressive look they are attempting to graft on with the darkened alloys, burnished metal effects and spoiler?

Agreed.

that really is a moronic insult. Seriously, this is not a shop being out of bread or milk, this person placed an order for a car and only 4weeks later were they told they wouldn't be getting the car they ordered

by not bringing other macho (by design) variants like A500 or bydiesel into this, you are spot on, I just played with the configurator, the only colour that goes with the wheels (the prominence part of TA+) is crossover black or at a push tech house grey. Its absurd that the TA+ is limited to single set of wheels but you can choose any colour you like, wtf is that about !!

The UK configurator is pretty impressive (I wouldn't comment on the Irish one :)) but it cannot emulate what it will look like 'in the flesh'. When I saw the Blackjack on the configurator it didn't work - put up close - well - it was a good effort. But the 'Twin Air' is priced between a TA POP and a TA Lounge so essentially it really is a TA POP + and the Twin Air + is a ++ (Confused now :))
The price of the 'Twin Air' is keen possibly due to 'cutting down the options' and if you are unhappy with the Black wheels you can pay yours money and and build your own from either the Pop or the Lounge. Once you're not looking for the white ambiance in the Pop or to take off the glass roof 'off' in the Lounge and I don't see the problem.:)
If you compare the European 'options' market with the US or in particular the Chinese configurator options we're spolit for choice.
For the OP who is looking for Black ambiance - there's no issue.(y)

eh, isn't that the pop? Well almost.

I've been to Arnold's a few times but never bought a car..... Last time I swore I would never set foot over the threshold again. I was treated to a double act by tweedle dum and tweedle dummer, while waiting for some other joker to move the car round for me to test drive. They got the credit card swipe machine out while I was waiting and asked if I wanted to pay the deposit by debit or credit card. (I must have been asleep at the point I agreed to buy the car..... ) Then tweedle even dummer came storming through from the back huffing and puffing asking why I had changed my mind after agreeing to pay a deposit to tweedle dum (or was it dummer, I can't recall). What was I up to eh?

On leaving the fine establishment I noticed that said car, that joker was bringing round for me, hadn't moved an inch.

I'd sooner get the bus....

:hm:

Lordy, why is it so many people are out to slag off Arnold Clarke. Why don't we start a new thread and call it 'Things I've just made up about Arnold Clarke. Then you can post to your hearts content.

But its not the dealers fault its no longer available.

These things happen when pre ordering things. I know 4 weeks is a long time but there will be a queue of orders going to Fiat. Its just unlucky to be lower down in the queue when a particular product is no longer made resulting in a longer time for the customer to find out.

loveshandbags, why have you got the hump? You can't quote people then change it. At least not without expecting them to make a response....

My understanding from earlier on in this thread was that Arnold Clarke had been discussed and the topic was closed. I personally find your references to the sales personnel disrespectful and offensive and since there are not on the FF to defend themselves and I've taken the liberty of giving them the 'benefit of the doubt'. In relation to editing what you had written on the Twin Thread the only 2 works that were changed are marked in Blue. The comment on 'my young man...' I find it condescending and in a way laughable because I'm on the 'wrong side of 40'.

You weren't there I'm afraid. And I found the behaviour of the sales staff a disgrace and offensive, I think you have over reacted, and you can not go about changing people's quotes, end of.
