General A few more questions sorry..

To clarify - i was told theor demo was a 1.2 Sport, when i got in it it had a 6 speed box so it had to be a 1.4. Salesmen said it felt like a 1.4. As i wasn't entirely overwhelmed by the performance i had my doubts - i so wanted it to be a 1.2 cos it felt little different to the 1.2 i'd driven earlier in the week.

But the engine cover said 100hp and the rear brakes were disks.

Maybe it was extremely tight engine, and i'm sure it would gain pace with miles - just not the huge leap i thought it would be. Can't really see why EVO magazine rave about this engine in a similar weight Panda, perhaps i just had a bad 'un. 1800 miles on an 08 plate demo so not exactly had much use.

Lloyd71 - i suggest you get a stopwatch and time your car from 30-60 in 3rd. I'm talking about steady throttle at 30, then full power to get to 60, not accelerating through 30 to 60. If 240Nm of VW TDi torque can only do it in 8 then i can't see a 1.2 500 getting under 9 seconds sorry.

Anyway waiting for a few dealers to call me back with their offers - i'm NOT paying list price, if they want my business they are going to have to tempt me :D

Hi Percymon

I noticed your location was Chester, so if your in the Northwich area drop me a message and I can take you for a quick spin in my 1.4, the sport button does, I think, make a big difference to the acceleration.

Feel free to bring the stopwatch!

Shawn

It sounds very unlikely I'd even do it in 10 to be honest, it probably just feels quick as the car is so small.

My GFs Panda feels sprightly from time to time too, mainly when i'm in it alone :D

@shawny69 - thanks for the offer, but i'm spendin most of my week in S.Wales these days, hence the need for a bit of uuumpf to pass the dawlers of mid Wales :D:D . Bit remiss of me to forget about the Sport button on the test drive though - perhaps i'd better have another ;)

As a general rule though, no matter how much you think you can count seconds yourself, time is so much faster on a stopwatch

Timed it this morning on my way to work (the advantages of going to work at 5am are clear roads!), timing it on my phone it took 9.2 seconds. (y) Not too shabby for a 1.2!

I guess so, but only if you drive like Lloyd (ask Notts about that, he'll surely be happy to elaborate);)

Yes I kept up with him for a while but then having toyed with me, he grew tired and sped off, leaving me in a cloud of dust, feeling violated, but happy.

The term "italian tune-up" has now been renamed "do a Lloyd".

If he ever got an Abarth, he could probably travel through time. :worship:
