Technical 2008 1.3 diesel gearbox questions

Hello friendly Fiat folk,
My wife's beloved 2008 1.3 Diesel 500 now has only 4 gears after the 5th has failed. We are in Portugal where spares are scarce, and I've been looking at gearboxes on eBay in the UK. Obviously I don't want to end up with the wrong thing, so the first main questions are:
Are RHD and LHD gearboxes the same?
Are all 2008 manual diesel 500 gearboxes the same?

If so it looks like shipping one over makes sense!

As far as I know on any make of vehicle the gearboxes would not be handed (LHD or RHD) due to cost, whereas it is much cheaper to route a longer gears cable set or clutch cable or hydraulic pipes than design a new gearbox selector system.
I have no specific knowledge re taios etc. on different model 500 gearboxes.
Perhaps others on Forum can advise re that.
