Hi everyone,

I have a 2006 4x4 PandaVan with the 1.3 mjet diesel. Everything has been running fine, until earlier today - I noticed the turbo noise had stopped, lots of black smoke under about 2500rpm, and a complete lack of power under 3000rpm.

Bit of a pain when living up a mountain and needing to get home :(

I plugged in my fault code reader, and got a P0236 error code, but no engine management light coming on.

Things I've checked:
- turbo hoses are all tight
- MAF is clean
- turbo waste gate actuator moves
- air filter is clean

Any ideas where to look next?

Thanks!

I think P0236 is turbo overboost pressure.... I'm guessing measured by the MAP sensor on the back of the inlet manifold.

I had a loss of power which a new MAP sensor sorted.... although it may be worth giving yours a clean first.

can you see it move when the engine is started

can you see it move back a few seconds after the engine is switched off

Thanks all for the responses - I took the MAP sensor out, was covered in filth, gave it a good clean - but no change.

Double checked the turbo actuator is moving correctly when car is started and turned off, that all looks good.

Will order a new MAP sensor and see how that goes!

Thanks again for the replies. A quick update - have fitted new Bosch MAP and MAF sensors, zero change.

Pipes all check out OK, so I think next step is to remove the turbo, check the casing, and have a look inside.

Hi, How did you get on ,was the problem in the turbo itself ? i have same problem on panda cross 2015

if the engine is the same

It should be a stuck waste gate actuator or a blocked tube going to it

Plenty of threads already on fixing these. In fact a block tube came up in the last few weeks

I think your engine is slightly more complicated with variable vanes so that throws a bit more into the mix

You might be better to post in the post 2012 section

I had a cracked casing on the turbo, replaced with a new unit. Also found a tear in the hose going to the intercooler, the one that's low down at the front - a branch had speared up while offroading and punctured it. Ended up replacing all the hoses associated with the turbo as well as the turbo itself - sorted the problem and has been running fine since.
