Technical Complete power steering loss

One was alternator which had been replaced, cannot remember the others I’m afraid, warning light works as before, comes on then goes off ,2 seconds later comes back on.

Looks like it's quite an expensive part, about 1000 €

If a garage does the work for you, it will likely cost more than the value of that 15 year-old Panda.
Also the airbag on the steering wheel needs to be removed and refitted properly.

I have decided to scrap the car and get what I can for it. I hope It’s a lesson I will remember!

An update, AA diagnostic machine says C1001,Power Steering motor faulty,who would have guessed!!

£70+VAT for a quotation is how I read it

And £70 + VAT for a NFF

C1001 is either an internal failure or the electronics aren't working correctly because they aren't being supplied correctly, think of your TV remote when it stops working it isn't automatically faulty, sometimes it just needs a new battery

95 times out of 100 it's something else, they do fail, but very rarely, last one on here was a faulty ABS sensor


The majority that are fixed by changing the column, would have been fixed by reseating the cables anyhow

Last post on here was 3 months ago to look at the dash power on test, with no feedback the only option is to throwing parts at the problem and hope
