Hi guys, just joined having bought a Ulysee last week from a little garage outside of Newcastle - was thrilled, needed a big car to cart my four little girls and hubby around in, that is until earlier this evening - The engine turns over but wont start, the key fob isnt working, so when I manually unlock the car and turn the key in the ignition the windscreen wipers come on and wont go off as well as the headlights, which constantly flash on and off even when I remove the key from the ignition - on the middle display it comes up with "engine immobiliser fault" the only way I have been able to sop the lights flashing/wipers wiping after removing the key is to disconnect the battery. Has anyone else come across this problem, and if so HEEEEELLLLLLPPPP what do I do? at the moment its just a rather large garden ornament thank you so much in advance if you can help me x

It is possible the transponder chip in your key has failed, or the data in the Body Systems Computer has become corrupted. You need to have you car connected to a Peugeot Planet 2000 diagnostic system to determine what has gone wrong. I suggest you contact the garage you purchased the car from and ask them to have it checked.

Incidentally, be careful when you disconnect/reconnect the battery on your car as this can result in corrupted data if you don't follow the correct procedure. Also, your Ulysse is basically the same car as the Citroen C8 and Peugeot 807. In my experience, Citroen/Peugeot dealers offer much better support for the Ulysse than Fiat dealers.

Hope you get back on the road soon.

Thank you hun x more has happened since my last post, once I reconnected the battery everything was fine, car started no probs, however, since then I have had various warning messages that seem to come and go as often as the british sunshine - Anti Pollution Fault, passenger airbag failure, passenger airbag disconnected along with some very quirky light/windscreen wiper behaviour -I'm moving home in a week, and have decided after discussions with a fiat mechanic that getting it hooked up to a diagnostic computer is probably the best course of action - there are a couple of things that I'm not sure are connected with all these odd things, the lid on the fuse box under the bonnet wont shut properly and an after market dvd/radio etc has been installed (badly, by the looks) so I'm hoping its just some sort of cross wire meltdown :p will update when its been seen to - love the car tho, its great for my large family and a pleasure to drive when its not being tempremental x x x

Hi, I've read your post about the problem with the Immobilizer and wipers stay on constant and also the headlights on your Fiat Ulysse. If you can please reply and explain what the outcome was to the problem mentioned as I'm having the same problem

Hello , and welcome to FF,

having only posted twice on here - over a year ago.. chances are they will NEVER see your request..,
maybe use the "send-email" link after clicking on their user name though ( worth a try..!!)

sounds like you've lost an earth to me,

maybe ask in the Ulysse section to see if others have found similar,
plugging in M.E.S. - to diagnose - could only be 50% successful if you've just got a basic wiring fault..,

Or just try pressing the lock or unlock button on the key fob for 15 seconds when you turn the ignition on.

The car loses the code for the immobiliser if the battery has been very low or disconnected for a longer period.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, the problem was water in the engine fuse box , sprayed wd40 in the fuse box and left the bonnet open for 3 hours. Started first time and problems all solved.

Hi,

Had the same issue on mine, You might want to check the water has not caused corrosion to the pcb of the fusebox ( did on mine so had to be replaced). A sure sign is if you continue to experience electrical gremlins(mine came up with airbag failure and a host of other issues), the cause on mine was a rubber drain pipe above the engine fuse box becoming disconnected so you might want to check yours is secure, I added a little silicon to ensure the pipe does not disconnect in the future.

In my thread about fixing the folding seats, I said that I had purchased a Ulysse a few weeks ago. In fact, this was to replace the Ulysse which I had owned for the previous eighteen months and was using as a taxi.

A few weeks ago, it failed to start. The screen showed ‘engine immobiliser’ problem. At the same time, the windscreen wipers started doing their own thing and the headlights stayed on after the key was removed.

Unfortunately, I made the terrible mistake, once again, of going to the 'experts' (my local Fiat dealer) for a diagnosis. “Yep, that’s a body module problem” was the definitive answer. “That will cost around £500 plus £180 for two hours labour for fixing and programming”.

Well, as my motor was getting on for 200,000 miles, I decided to get another car. 48 hours later I had bought a replacement Ulysse and it was going through its taxi test.

I had alrady started cannibalising a couple of bits and pieces from the old car when I saw this thread and remembered that I had lost the lid to my fuse box some time ago and it almost certainly got wet in all that bad weather we had in December and January. So I bought a replacement fuse box for a tenner (not bad) and put it in my old car. Guess what? It started straight away.

Thanks to this thread I now have two working Ulysses in my drive.

I will now write a hundred lines – Go to the main dealer as a last resort, check the Fiat Forum first.

p.s This was the same main dealer that charged £45 for a 30 minute diagnosis as to why my headlights were faulty. Apparently, the spade connector had not been pushed onto the bulbs correctly, causing shorting and melted wiring in the headlights. Remedy – 2 new headlights fully fitted £1380. I then got an Auto electrician to have a look. It turned out to be a faulty earth, which he fixed. Lights were fine after that.
