Panda (Classic) Godiva -- the blue 750L (L is for "Low mileage")

Introduction

PIPPIN -- the blue 750L (L is for "Low mileage")

Well, having not "driven stick" for many, many years, picking up Pippin (the Panda formerly known as Godiva...) was one heckuvanadventure...!

It was fun, though! And I got him/her up to an indicated 70 mph, at one stage; but s/he cruises rather nicely between 60 and 65 mph. (It's a good job s/he doesn't have a rev counter...!) S/he also drove really well in heavy traffic in town... (it's the Shakespeare Birthday Weekend, here; and really sunny...). :D

Here s/he is, parked outside Black Cat Motors, in Stratford-upon-Avon: waiting to be MOT'd, serviced, and given a thorough once-over. (And I make no apologies for promoting them as a garage: they deliver sterling service -- which includes taking their customers all the way to pick up their new cars...! A big thank-you to John, the owner, therefore, for whizzing me up the A46 in his swish 4.2 Audi A8, earlier...! And for commenting that "It doesn't look like a twenty-three-year-old car, does it?") (y)

Thanks to everyone for their help and support -- especially to purple haze for bringing him/her to my attention...! :worship:

Watch this space...!

PS: Not a bad way to celebrate my 1,500th post to the Forum, eh...?!

2 August 2014
How Pippin looks now -- after a light fettling from VmanC... :slayer:

I know, after the first Midlands Italia meet, that I now have a reputation for turning up to such things with a dirty car... -- but I did have a valid reason for doing so: having had a minor op on my neck, three days previously....

Anyway: no such excuses with getting Pippin ready for the Chiltern Hills Rally, on Sunday... -- even though it's been threatening to rain, all day. At least if I turn up with the car covered in bits of the M40, you'll know that I tried my best....

After applying all of the above, the various cloths I used now have a slight tinge of Azzurro Nautico about them....

Anyhoo, here are the results.... (y)

So shiny...! :D

No no no no no no no!!

Not allowed, that looks fantastic. Far too good in fact as I have 3 dirty Panda's to wash before Sunday & I'll never have time to get them anywhere near that  Best I can manage is a quick scrub up - you will be banished to avoid showing us up

Really looks good though (y)

Great job, she's come up a treat!

I can tell from your choice of products that this is not your first valet job. (y)

You're going to show me up too as I don't have much time for cleaning either. :(

Ta...! I was inspired by Pinky's magic glow...! (y)

Just don't look too closely at the inside, though... -- I still haven't gotten around to stripping it out, and giving it a good going over.... One day....

It's funny: but I've tried loads of different products over the years -- usually on the basis of price (i.e. cheap) -- but I always come back to Autoglym for the important stuff (and because I love the smell of that wax...)! In the long-run, it's probably actually better value for money, as well....

I always park next to dirty cars when possible. Makes mine look much cleaner. I can never get that ultra shiny finish. All I end up with is not dirty.

I will have to teach you the ways of the Force, young Pa(n)dawan...! :D

Anyhoo -- as benny279 will tell you... -- this is why I have the Punto: it makes Pippin look even better...!

Pippin the Reservoir Panda

I know it's only a little thing (thank you, matron...) -- but, hoping to keep Pippin as original as possible, it's really bugged me that, every time I opened the bonnet (using a yoga position known as crouching pill*ck, creaking spine... -- you open the driver's door fully: and with your left hand, pull the bonnet release; whilst simultaneously trying the pry open the side of the bonnet with your right hand... -- which is nigh impossible to do, when said "pill*ck" has waxed the car to within a micron of its life, poor thing...), the screen-wash reservoir was topped off with what looked like the top of a bottle of actual screen-wash: which neither fitted, nor looked pretty....

Finally...! (y)

I'm now expecting someone to tell me that this particular variant only came with a 1985 45S, with left-hand drive, and optional Zauberflöte (Gesundheit!) -- although, if I remember correctly, that had the tube actually coming out of the top of the cap... -- but, hey, at least it looks a lot better (to me, anyway...).

Re: Pippin the Reservoir Panda

Mine opens fine first time with no extra hands needed :p

Pytical....

Seriously, though, I can't quite work out why mine doesn't spring up as it should. (Go to the back of the queue, Palio, for having such thoughts....) :nono:

I shall have to give it a good fettle, sometime... -- once I've waxed the interior, of course.... ;)

As if!!

Anyway you need something beginning with V to make it spring up.......

Fortunately he will be at the show tomorrow, and can probably give you a hand, so to speak!
