But its not the dealers fault its no longer available.

These things happen when pre ordering things. I know 4 weeks is a long time but there will be a queue of orders going to Fiat. Its just unlucky to be lower down in the queue when a particular product is no longer made resulting in a longer time for the customer to find out.

But the dealer took an order for a factory order sport 2 months after Fiat had announced that they would not be taking any more orders for the sport.(n) And it took them another 4 weeks to realise they couldn't order one!

The OP's probably the kind of person to kick off at the sales assistant every time a shop runs out of stock or stops selling something.
I would prefer it if you wouldn't make inaccurate assumptions about what kind of person that I am as you don't know anything about me . Your comments are offensive . If you can't say anything helpful or constructive then maybe you shouldn't say anything .

On a recent post my OH would be of the same mindset as your OH and I would buy her anyhing (within reason of course :)) to keep her happy. She was quite enamoured with the Gucci model and funnily enough I am as well but I wouldn't pay the Abarth price that they are looking for their 1.2 (£14,800  ). One guy who was in this price bracket switched his order from the TA to A500.
I get the feeling that you might be more comfortable in a 1.2 Black model and here are some pictures of one along with Maxi's very useful 'Guide'. I did contemplate buying a '09 Black 1.2 Sport last March and the guy who had originally bought it decided to retrofit the chrome kit to 'lift' the car. I myself had a '08 Sport 1.4 Black with red leather and it had the chrome kit. On other colours e.g. Red I prefer the 500 to be de-chromed for a more retro look.
Will the car be for both of you to drive or will your OH be the main driver ?
Thanks very much for those pics etc . The car will be for both of us but i will use it more for work etc so I didn't want anything too girly . The chrome detailing actually looks like a nice contrast in relation to the black paint so I think maybe a lounge version may be best for us .

Exactly . You took the words right out of my mouth !

And thank you Paulk8 for the acknowledgement - it makes up for the 2 dislikes that I 'clocked up' on this thread.

Some links that I think might be useful for you.

Maxi's leather interior. My favourite. Had this on the '08 Sport

My 'old '08 Sport with the 500 strip. Reminds me bit of the Gucci. :)

I was fond of the old Black metallic sport - it was a quick one. Red leather is a great contrast interior. The US Spec Sport 500 is a bit more manly even with the Funk white. I really like the current slightly effeminate funk white and can appreciate it more after having a black one. On balance if I had a choice I would go with the US model if it was available hence why the like the look of the Abarth. My OH loves the Funk white and prefers it in place of her current red Mito.
Have some fun on your hunt for the right car.(y)

Thank you for all that info. & Maxi's guide is very informative & helpful . The red leather interior is a nice option and looks particlularly good against the black paint . Also the I think the USA version of the Sport looks much better than the European version . Think it's because the bumpers are a different style and it gives the car a much more sporty stance . Maybe the UK Sport would have been a much bigger seller if it had been styled like the USA version ? The only real external differences between the UK lounge and the Sport are the use of chrome , the glass roof and the rear spoiler whereas the USA version looks like a completely different model .
I am going to check the headroom in a lounge model on Monday and if it's ok i will most likely order one. I phoned A. Clark dealer today and as i had expected a call 3 days ago he told me that he didn't phone me back as he had been unable to source a Sport model . When I told him I would consider a lounge with black paint said that he would look to see if he could source me one today and he would phone me back to let me know how he got on before leaving at 5.30pm . Suprise suprise no phone call .
I find this level of communication absolutely appalling and as far as i am concerned the main problem is not that they haven't yet been able to source me a car but that they do not keep me updated at all and they do not call when they say they will .
I think it will probably be for the best if i order from another dealer .

I wanted to buy a Sport for my wife (she preferred the Sport interior) but unfortunately didn't get our order in before they stopped taking orders. In the end we opted for a Lounge. We placed the order specifying black with a red leather interior. However when I told my wife that she was going to be out cleaning it every week she changed her mind and we are now getting an Electroclash grey Lounge.

If you need a good dealer I can highly recommend the one I'm using. However they are in the south so probably not suitable for you. Anyway good luck with the new order.

I had posted this link on the '500 topolino Hybrid' thread.
Does anyone know what colour it is - I couldn't see it on the US configurator.
P.S. This car is not for sale (at the moment).

Thank you very much for offering to help with a dealer but luckily for me I have managed to find a car and I will be picking it up on Friday .
I wanted to have a look at a lounge model & popped into a local car dealer ( Parks motors ) on the way home on Sunday. When i walked into the showroom there was a brand new and unregistered 1.2 sport sitting there with my preferred black paint .
I explained to the salesperson that I had ordered a black 1.2 sport from A. clark but they had been unable to source me one . The sales manager came over & asked me if I had ordered the car around a month ago and when I told him yes he said that A. clark had been in touch around that time wanting to take that particular car but he had refused !
It looks as though A. clark was already aware that the model was not available at the beginning when i placed the order .
To cut a long story short I have cancelled the order with A. clark and i am really looking forward to collecting the car from Parks on Friday . The Parks salesperson was excellent too & not at all pushy .
I don't want to slate all A. clark dealerships though as although I had a bad experience with the Rutherglen branch the Broxburn branch sales manager was very professional, helpful and returned my calls so the level of service seems to vary from branch to branch .
On a lighter note the car itself looks absolutely fantastic . Parks had some nice twinair models in the showroom with nice brushed metal dash and leather seats etc but i preferred the Sport interior with I don't know if it's part leather or vinyl seats but they look great . It also has a nice gearstick with a chrome & black top, and the black dash looks fab .

I can't believe i didn't think to look at Parks as the dealers is only 3 miles from my house !
I would like to thank everyone on this forum who took the time to try and help and for giving me the info that i needed .

Roll on friday , can't wait !

Congratulations to yourself Pauk8 and your partner on the 500 1.2 Sport. (y)
Here is a thread explaining the unique features of the Sport model - there's a lot of very subtle differences but I'd imagine that Maxi has it all covered in his guide.
Re the material on the seats I thought it was leather - it as so real - but it was pointed out to me that it was leatherette. IMHO the seats are brillant and it is one of the key deciding factors that individuals have chosen the Sport over the Lounge.

Delighted for you that it all worked out for the better. Some things are meant to happen.:) (y)

Thanks for the comments , picked up the car from Parks today (who have been fantastic) and I just love it . I have been lucky enough to own some really nice cars over the years from the German marques but i have to say that I am more excited about this Fiat 500 than any of them ! Those other cars may have been a lot faster but the 500 has more character and more of a feelgood factor than the rest of them combined . After the awful ride of my old Z4 with those runflat tyres the 500 feels like a Rolls in comparison !

I think that this is the future of motoring , people nowadays are moving away from gas guzzlers & want a small car with a bit of personality that is affordable to buy and run but which also has a very high spec with a nice interior . Fiat have got it spot on with this model .

This is my first time owning a Fiat & i'm sure it won't be the last !

Thanks to everyone on this forum for your comments .
