Hi
will I lose eco:drive if I go for an after-market head unit?, sorry I posted this question in the i.c.e section but only a punto owner answered and could say for definate. The ice company have got the right connectors to get the tom tom and the steering wheel controls to work but is there anything else I have missed?

Not to be flippant, but does it matter if you lose eco:drive? Also, the tom tom probably won't connect to the head unit regardless of connectors.

no I suppose not re. eco:drive but it would be nice to know what I am losing, concerning the tom tom I needed to get an HU with an AUX input and also special adaptor which sends a signal via the mute wire on the HU when the tomtom is talking which they have got

You might lose ecodrive, you might not. Tbh if you really want an aftermarket setup then I wouldn't let it get in the way.

I was actually curious myself. I would like to replace the existing head unit with an after market one but was wondering if I would then loose the Blue& Me and ecodrive stuff. I guess it depends on whether the gubbins that powers these elements are housed in the standard head unit or in a separate box. Does anyone know?

You can buy a double din adaptor for the 500, it gets rid of the middle 2 vents

I can't see that that would be a good idea, considering quite how pathetic the 'puff' from the vents at each end of the dash are, even with the centre vents closed.

Yes you will lose the following, phone intergration, eco:drive, blue&me voice, the windows button on your steering wheel because this is all in the head-unit but if you get good enough ICE installers you can still use all steering wheel controls, tomtom integration and depending on the head-unit you can get your phone integration and handsfree kit back

mmm... would I do this? all those beautiful double din head units out there probably not as my current quote is at £1500

Thanks for that info. Bummer, I was hoping the headunit was just little more than a dumb amplifier with cd/ radio built in, especially considering that the headunit display shows bugger-all info.:(
