Hello, everyone!

I recently replaced my car's original radio with a Junsun Android head unit because the old one had Bluetooth issues (Blue and Me was not working) and a blinking odometer.

The installation process was straightforward and didn’t take too long. However, I’ve run into an issue with the steering wheel controls—they’re no longer working. When I try to use the learning function, the buttons aren’t being detected at all.

The head unit has a SimpleSoft CAN, which seems to be functioning correctly. The system report recognizes it, and it responds when the car is put into reverse. However, the steering wheel controls remain unresponsive. I’ve tried to adjust the factory CAN settings through the admin settings by trying different versions, but it hasn’t resolved the issue.

The odometer is still blinking, but that’s not a major concern. My main focus is getting the steering wheel controls to work.

If anyone has tips, guidance, or suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate it!

I’m not sure on your set up but when I replaced my factory head with a pioneer touch screen I had to wire up a connects2 steering wheel interface… if not no steering wheel functions

Have you done the Proxi Alignment after the headunit change, to fix all ECU comms?

If you have could you post a screenshot, other people may have ideas.

If you have MultiECUScan, there is a menu to change steering wheel buttons options.
I haven't - is this the next best step?

The blue & me unit must be unplugged before doing a proxy procedure or it may fail .. a proxy alignment must be done to stop the mileage flashing
As for the steering controls they won’t work without an interface.. doesn’t matter what’s in MES it just won’t work

I think the problem is in the mounted canbus unit. The steering wheel controls are displayed by canbus hiworld or canbus raise. I haven't been able to eliminate the flashing but everything else works wonderfully. What canbus unit did you mount?

If you are still struggling with the Simple canbus, I just got a stereo with the exact box you listed.
Sounds odd, but choose car type as

Raise (not simple)
Car is Linea low.

I now have no flashing odometer and working steering wheel buttons.

I have an 09 Fiat 500 pop 1.2 with blue and me.
It’s a cheap £700 runaround until I find a car but it’s growing on me. Lol
Had to do the CarPlay upgrade and had a few issues trying to get the canbus working.

All sorted now though. Just thought I would let you know as I stumbled on this thread when trying to find an answer and I had tried all the simple soft options.

No Proxy alignment needed.

I replaced my HU a few days ago for an android HU and had to do a proxi alignment to get it all working

Thanks! Changing setting of canbus brand from "Simple" to "Raise" made steering wheel control work. My canbus is same as OP (SimpleSoft). How/why did you end up with "Linea Low"?

I have blinking odometer. Used MES and did Proxi, which says all is ok. Odo still blinking. Any ideas? Should proxi be redone when changing canbus brand?

My odometer will flash if the ignition has been on for a few minutes without the engine running, I'm guessing that's because the battery voltage is low. Once it's been run for a few minutes and the ignition turned off and restarted the flashing odometer stops.

My head unit showed an update to the can module which I made the mistake of installing and now it doesn't always turn the head unit on fully when starting the car. It powers the USB ports but the display doesn't light up.

I do have an old can bus unit at home from a Ford which I may try in it to see if it works reliably. Otherwise is there a way to return the can module to its original firmware?
