Hey everyone,

Due to worn roller bearing, the drivebelt ran of the camshaft while going over 50 km/h. This of course means the engine is damaged. What parts could be damaged besides of course the valves? Can the cylinder-heads get damaged by such an accident?

What is the estimated cost of revising the cylinder block including the valves? Is this something I can pick up at a scrapyard?

Thanks,

Tom

hi, parts you may need, valves, tappets, pistons, gasket set. Hopefully not valve guides but you should do the valve oil seals at the same time.

Cost at the breakers for a replacement head, depends how good you are at hagling. You could try www.findapart.co.uk It will cost a couple of quid to register but can be good.

Problem is there are more engines ruined this way that any other so lots of people chasing few parts.

Dont forget that most of the engines (dont know what model yours is) are ford iveco so you can look at those to.

A good guy to talk to, helped me many times is Andy Hickling www.van.eu.com

Good luck
