I have seen a post asking how these scuttle wiper arm covers come off. Most Fiat plastic bits break if not treated very carefully! I wanted to re-paint the drivers wiper arm and T cut the other side, so off they had to come. Both the cover trims pull off from the right side (on RHD cars). Its likely opposite for Left hand drive wipers.

To access the 13mm nuts that secure the wiper arms these covers need to be removed. Lever up the right side with a small screw driver and pull upat 90 degrees to the windscreen. A single thin push-pin on the back and fixed a tab on the other side hold them in place. As the covers unclip pull to the right and the single tab on the left will come out.

Before proceeding to remove the wiper arms, place a small rag in the bottom of the wiper arm well to stop any parts falling into the scuttle. Note the position of the wiper arms. Take a photo for reference on refitting. Some cars have little circle or black marks on the windscreen to show where the ends of the blades should line up. (In the off / parked position). Ours didnt.
Lever up the plastic nut cover with a flat blade and tease it off. DONT DROP IT into the scuttle, Undo the nut anti clockwise as normal and remove and retain the spring shim washer as well.

Now close the bonnet to prevent the arms scratching the paintwork. With the bonnet closed raise the arms off the windscreen. Take care not to allow them to spring down and crash onto the screen. If you do allow this it can break the screen. Even more likely if you are changing the blades if this occurs.
With the arms standing up you can gentlty rock them back and fore. They should come loose. If they are stuck, a mini two leg puller can be used to give them a pull.

Remove each arm carefully and maintain as required. I sanded mine with 800 grade wet and dry, wiped with a panel clean wipe and gave them two coats of satin black.

Apply a tiny blob of anti seize grease on the wedged drive shafts splines before refitting.

Fit the splined hole over the shaft and press gently into position. Support the drive shaft end so it cannot come off and fold the wiper down onto the screen.
Get the alignment correct or one wiper may catch the other in operation, and cause them to tangle and become damaged. When both are in the right position replace the spring shim washers and nuts and tighten the nuts moderately with a small spanner or 1/4 inch drive socket (13mm). Don't overtighten.

Test the wiper operation.
Make sure the wipers are in the parked position before adjusting. Turn on the ignition key to the MAR ignition position and operate the washers. Be ready to switch off with the key immediately if the blades clash. If the blades clash loosen the nuts and reposition referring to your reference photo. If they work OK replace the nut covers, These fit any way as they are just round underneath. Push on squarley and firmly.

Refit the wiper well scuttle trims. Start by inserting the left slide tabs in to the slot on the left edge, then check the pin is really well lined up with its hole in the scuttle and push it back until it clips in.

Each wiper arm well in the scuttle has a single drain hole in the bottom rightcorned.
Take the opportunity to unblock these while you are there. 20241004_150035.jpg 20241004_150227.jpg
