Hello

I noticed that there is a considerable gap on the top rubber seal running along the top of the windscreen

I guessing that it shouldn't be like that? The gap is just under an inch

Kinda has me worried/curious as to why it is like it

Also im thinking on replacing my Air filter and cabin filter, just wondering which makes to go for? There is a bundle offer on ebay for both filters and an oil filter for £20 and the make is Fram

Thanks

The most likeliest cause of the gap is shrinkage. The trim has shortened in size and thus a gap has appeared. It could be that the windscreen has been replaced at some stage and the trim was not centralised when it was put onto the glass (or it has moved).

You could try to push it along (towards the gap) but if it doesn't want to know, ultimately, the screen would need to be removed in order to fix this problem.

(y)
my opinion too
no chassis number etched in by passenger corner would confirm

Those trims aint bonded in
They literally pull out :)

I had mine out - got a pastry brush to clean all the rubbish that builds up in there!

Swine to refit as its a snug fit, a lil lube probably would have helped tho

Ziggy

who said trims were bonded in?
screens are
trim is fitted before screen fitted
if i move these trims its heat gun and carefullness because one wrong move and screen breaks
i strongly advise OP to leave as is

:)Unless water is getting in I'd leave it alone.
My Mk2 has had exactly the same gap as yours and I've always wondered about it, but as it's never been a problem (since I noticed it about 100,000km ago) I haven't bothered investigating further. It will probably only be an issue if you're worried about aesthetics - keep that Punto pretty!;)

Thanks for the responses, ill just leave it be

My car had a service about 2 years ago and has only done 5k since then (only passed my test 2-3months ago) so ive only just started adding more miles to it, would it be even worth changing the air filters around?

Cheers

Ideally, cars should be serviced every year. Changing the air filter, at least, will give you the chance to check the state of the breather hose, whilst you're at it -- and it's only a five-minute job (unless you end up replacing the hose, of course...). (y)

I'd also be tempted to at least change the oil and filter, as well; and check the state of the gearbox oil (unless this was changed at the last service), etc.. If you've got the owner handbook, have a look at what it recommends....

Yeah I have been wanting to service my car for a while and change the oil filter and oil etc but I have an issue that my drive is on a slope which isn't the best(?) For when it comes to doing an oil change? But I'm just speculating in that part.

I'm competent when it comes to this sort if stuff it's just building the courage to get stuck in and do it

Also are the fram oil filters good? As I read a review of one which had the filter made of cardboard which had disintegrated after a year of use
