Well this is a strange one. Getting on well with reviving the old barn find. New timing belt, brake fluid etc...

Then to the oil change. Oil filter. Please do not thrash me - but I went to Halfords who had two listed to for the engine. I bought both and agreed I could take the one that didn't fit back. Neither of them fitted. Took original filter with me but, alas nothing close.

Popped over to Euro Car Parts (I didn't know they opened Sunday or I would have gone there first). HOWEVER - The filters they had on shelf were also very different. They checked against the part number on the filter I removed and it refers them to something that looks nothing like it and would never fit.

So my question is - have any of you had the same issue - mine is the 1.2 8V engine the Part Number of the filter is 71736159.

Usually they can cross reference the old filter maker to the new.
Try putting that filter make and part number into eBay and when they match it go to bottom of page and if lucky they will have the more common makers reference no.:)
