General Wheel room bolts

Morning one 'n all;
need a bit of technical help from owners of 500s with original pattern wheels (190pcd)--what are the dimensions of the wheel bolts? are they 10mmx1.25mm thread? I am trying to make up a 'locating stud' for a friend. The idea is that you (finger tight only) screw the stud into a wheel bolt orifice before you fit the wheel which greatly assists lining up the wheel bolts holes. When you have a couple of wheel bolts in place, you take out the stud and fit a correct wheel bolt. This makes it much easier to fit (and take-off) wheels. Look forward to any help that can be given--thank you.

The wheel bolts are course not fine, so 1.5 thread and are M10 x 20mm. On a standard car with drums, you could also get away with 25mm in length.

So standard M10 studding will be fine for making up a wheel locating pin. I have some here if you want me to cut off a length and post in a Jiffy bag.

Thank you very much for the offer Steve, much appreciated. However, now that I know the correct size of thread, I will go through my large (wife says 'over large!') collection of bolts and make a stud from 1 of them with the head cut off and the thread cut down to about an inch long--don't forget, it will take very little load as it is only used to take off/put on a wheel.

Could you not use a HT. short stud for each wheel and leave that in permanently with one wheel bolt replaced with a nut?

That would be better than studding, as a cut down bilt with a shank will make it easy to slide on and off. Another trick for anyone physically impaired and unable to lift a wheel (even a small 12" one ) is to use a spade under the tyre. The lever effect of the spade enables them to lift the wheel tyre combo into position easily. Maybe help for you neighbour too.

A previous owner of my 500 had obviously stripped on of the rear threads and had welded in some studding and used a nut on one of the rear wheels. So I needed two new drums added to the parts order
