Hi all

I'm new to owning a Fiat 500F. I recently got a flat and when changing my tyre, forgot to position the rim over the locator pin. As a result the pin has pushed into the wheel rim creating a raised bump, but not going all the way through the steel.

I have since attached the wheel and tyre in the correct position over the pin (before driving anywhere)

Is the damage to my rim likely to be something that needs an urgent fix, or is it largely an aesthetics issue?

Thanks for your guidance

Hopefully with a steel rim it may be just hammered/tapped true again.
However if concerned or experience any wheel out of balance type issues it may be worth asking your local tyre specialist to spin it up on his machine to check.

I am sure that has happened many times and I have had rims that has happened to. I would just take a flat punch and hammer it back whilst on the car, the solid brake drum will be a good anvil.

You'll find it very hard to find a modern day tyre shop to spin them. There's an adaptor plate needed to put these on the balancing machine.
From the sounds of it, a gentle massage with a hammer will do the trick!

That's really interesting to know. Thank you FR85. I enjoyed the delight in my local tyre shopkeeper's face when I took the tyre in (what's that come off?!). After repairing my current inner, he mentioned that finding inners can be very difficult. I have bought a couple of spares just in case my current inner couldn't be repaired in future.

If the tubes have come in a small box, normally do, take them out and hang them somewhere safe and in shape, even put 4 psi in them to keep the shape. If you leave them in the box they'll crack in the folds.

Hmm I'm not so sure about that. if they perish in the box their goose was probably cooked anyway. there are some pretty bad tubes out there. Just fit Michelin tubes. With Pirelli tyres.

of course your other option is just buy a new wheel fitted with a brand new Proper original Pirelli Cinturato tyre, which has been fitted by us at Longstone Tyres with a fresh Michelin inner tube. it is remarkabley good value. specially if you consioder all the messing about you would other wise have to do. simply have them delivered direct to your door and just bolt them on.
