I just bought my first car - just a wee Silver 06 Fiat Panda 1.1 and my mum said I should name it but I have no idea apart from calling it The Panda... any ideas?? :)

If you name it, then it becomes part of the family.

Mine is called Dez and he's been with me almost 12 years from new.

Steve :)

If female - Anastasia

EDIT: Or, just like mine Panda: Little Car (in my language Maluch - name given to FIAT 126p more than twenty years ago in Poland).

hi, and welcome, :)

does the registration plate hint at a name..??;)

I'm not one for naming veehickles.. as I've had so many..

but we did have "Reggie" the Regata, and a Tipo know as the "teapot"

 how about "Hyper" (the ACTIVE)..:D

we've had out 1.1 Active for 14 great years.. and it's still not got a name..(y)

Charlie

How about Freddie?

Freddie = Freddy Mercury

(another name for Mercury is Quicksilver).

Geddit?

You could also call it Jim (after Jim Diamond). Jim Diamond wrote "Hi Ho Silver", which was used as the theme music for "Boon".

I once had a green Hillman Avenger named Patrick.

Patrick is an Irish name, hence green; and Patrick Macnee was an Avenger.

Back in the late '80's, Renault had a marketing drive based on naming (remember the "Renault 5 - What's yours Called?" campaign?) I bought one for the missus about the same time I bought myself a Granada, so she called it Arfur, because it was only arf as big as mine.

I call mine "Pan-pan" after the Panda character in the kids cartoon "We bare bears",I later found out it's a radio distress code (the one before "Mayday mayday!") meaning "We have a problem but it's not life threatening..at the moment ",but I decided to keep the name anyway!

Of course not! Let's turn it around.

Italians are PASSIONATE. Give it a passionate name. An emotional name.

It's designers would have it such a way ;-)

True but the name "Panda" is none of those things.

TBH "500" and "124" are not exactly exciting names. Though too be fair "Cinquecento" and "Seicento" are clearly Italian. "Uno" of course means one. "Punto" means Point.

For doffs and cars, I still like odd names like Stanley, Eric or Trevor.

Slightly off topic, this was Stanley the greyhound around 2002.

Tal Shiar - mysterious and unknown.
If you like Star Trek, name it Enterprise, Bird-o-Prey or something like that. :)

Toddler (in Polish - Maluch - Fiat 126p) of Destruction :)
