As title realy I seen the 5th Gear prog that showed that a car filled with either of the fuels gave an extra 5-6 bhp....

Does any one on here treat their M/jet to either of the super diesels on a regular basis, and do you find any differance. I filled my 150 m/jet to the neck 2 weeks ago costing £51 it was 4p more per ltr than run of the mill stuff. I think the car felt more responsive and smoother. Now my car has 22000 on the clock so there shouldnt be too much cokeing in the engine i will say this though my fuel filter warning light has now come on every time I start up the car so maybe the cleaning stuff in the ultimate has done its job

i e never put it in my mjet yt but am gna try it now see if it does owt,but i just to put vpower petrol in my saxo vtr and it felt alot better and smoother so i think it works :)

Not tried it on a Bravo, 3 weeks when I get mine and that's petrol anyways, but... I have used Shell V Power diesel in my Mitsubishi Colt DI-D over some period of time now on and off.

I am usually one of life's sceptics over any car performance promises when it comes to fuels & additives but I noticed a fantastic performance difference as soon as I filled up on my first tank of this stuff .... it was that instant a tweek for me in my particular car. As I'm awaiting my new Bravo in a few weeks I've not been using the V Power for a while due to the extra cost especially as I found there was no noticeable improvement in mpg gains.

From what I hear the differences are far more noticeable on some cars as opposed to others so with the Bravo it's a case of give it a try and see I guess. :)

As regards V-power (petrol only), the first what needs to be distinguished is type of V-power. Shell have two V-powers in range, here in Czech Republic at least. The first is called simply "V-power" with 95 RON. This petrol fits to a range of other 95 RONs available on market but in addition contains special additives, which keep an engine clean and thus quieter and less thirsty. While you can't count with any performance increase in hps from this petrol, the second one, "V-power racing" with 100 RON is a different story. Generally an engine is far responsive, faster pulling and where you need usually to gear down, it keeps revs without shifting. I don't dare, though, to say if and how much hps can be of benefit. I only remember one test conducted by ADAC where they compared 3 engines. VW's 1,4 and 2,0 4-stroke and BMW's 3,0 6-stroke. Surprisingly only 1.4 had proven the performance increase cca 4 hps. I have 21.000 kms on Bravo 1,4 90 hps and I never used other petrol than V-power in this car. Sometimes when having a taste for enjoyment (especially in summer) I go for V-power racing.

Interesting. :)

Just checked the Shell UK info for V-Power unleaded and we only have one type and that is "99 RON". So don't know if it is the same or similar to the V-Power Racing you get in the Czech Republic or not.

The fuel filter is before the injectors though, so all it may have cleaned is the fuel lines

I would bet the 99 RON available in UK is the same with the 100 RON in CR. I guess it is only a marketing issue because I can't imagine the Shell produce two unleaded petrols with just 1 RON difference.

Shell guarantee that all v power (in the UK) comes from the Stanlow refinery. It would be far easier to refine petrol in each country than ship it. Also if they sell a fuel as 100RON it has to be 100 RON.

I've tried BP Ultimate petrol in my 156 and Ultimate derv in our Panda and Sedici multijets (the latter, I think, having the same 1.9 unit as fitted to the Bravo).

The Alfa loves Ultimate: it feels far more responsive.

The multijets however seem to hate the stuff: both are noisier and LESS economical than when fed BP's boggo DERV. Even Tesco derv is better than Ultimate. Bizarre I know, but that's the way it is...

saying that shell in Gibraltar offers unleaded 95, and unleaded 98 i use the 98 but costs a bit more 72p a litre :D copared to 68.5p for 95. funnily enough dealer told me to use 98 as i would get more out of my car.

sorry but I have to dissagree now I have run it for a week now. i find that my 150 m/jet runs nicer on the ultimate and does seem to have a bit more poke....Now my car has been remaped so unless that makes a wee bit of a difference to it . i will know by this time tomorrow as she is going to the RR day ..... will post up a pic of the readout BHP

I thought the Bravo TJet was only meant to run on 95 RON? My previous car used to run on Tesco Super Unleaded - it was 99 RON and seemed to make a big difference compared to the Shell VPower (which is only 97RON) and costs less as well.

If we can run higher RON then I'll try a tank of Tesco Super Unleaded next time I fill up and see if it makes a difference, as it stands I'm using standard Tesco 95 RON Unleaded...doesn't seem to have any problems with it.

I'm sure I read in the handbook that it was intended to only run on 95 RON though - so is it fine with 97 or 99 RON?

my dealer told me ok to run 95, but ecu adapts for higher, adds retardation i beleive, and engine will run a bit better on the higher ron rating. ,ay have problems if using race fuels (110 plus) as will need to be mapped for this

Yes. 95 RON is the lowest quality/rated fuel it can comfortably handle, anything above this ok and can run more smoother and cleaner with greater ignition advance without detonation.

No idea what that actually means d4nny8oy but it sounds good...smoother is always better - cleaner I'm not fussed about but smoother and cleaner could also mean a small improve in mpg (which will be wasted when I discover the new found joys of even faster burn!)...thanks.
