I should have asked what's the reason to replace the slave?
I would advise against replacing if not totally faulty, as even if you can replace it, if you can't bleed the system properly the car will be un driveable
I was advised to try it first as it's the most likely thing to be wrong. I've already spent £150 having the garage drive her around, and she's a perfect lady with em. This thread has the long story

I have the kit and will try and help if I can.Im doing up a new house for my daugter and am under pressure right now, but as I said will always help if I can.
That's awesome, ty. No panic as the odometer has been flashing for almost a year now, so even next year is brilliant. 😊

Im sure we can look sooner than that. I should get a breather by mid November when doors windows and roof are all secure. I will have a look at MES inrelation to your car and see what the simulation says. Im about 12 miles KingslLynns side of Norwich.

Hi, that'd be fab ty. I need a proxy realignment to stop my odometer flashing after having the blue and me removed in the summer. Fiat norwich said they couldnt stop the flashing, and charged £215 to remove it, but it turns out it isn't true. They just needed to plug a laptop in.

Which Fiat place did you visit. I dont' suppose it was motorvogue was it. They are incapable of even identifying a Panda 4x4 and I do not trust them at all. Desira still have Fiat technicians and are helpful as ever even though now Suzuki dealers.

It was the desira suzuki one. On heigham rd. I got to the tesco express roundabout on way to uea, and saw it was still flashing, so drove back. Was a nightmare at rush hour with the clutch issues. When I walked in and said it was still flashing, the guy said it will be, we should've told you that. We can't stop it flashing.

As per John above, this is the head of one of the bolts you need to remove to detach the ecu from the battery tray:

Not the black nut inside the bracket, that is welded on. It's the silver coloured head of the bolt on the outside of the bracket, facing the engine.

I don't know if you can get a spanner on it, might need to be a socket.

You'll need a socket and extension to get the battery tray off.

Unfortunately fiat kept changing the mounting of the ecu, making it hard to cross reference.

Any plastic clips need squeezing and pushing through the holes in the battery tray. Then some bolts and screws to remove.

You're getting there! :D

omg THANKYOU! i had no idea what to do with the plastic clips atall, and was scared of breaking em.

I didn't even notice another bolt, so that's encouraging. I didn't see it when John circled it, I thought he meant the black one. Will have a look in a bit. Thankyou, and sorry John if that's the bit you meant.

I've just looked. The things I think you are telling me to take off are tiiiiiiiiiiny. @rmjbn1 The look like alan key fixings, that small. There are no other things that I can see that join to the holder thing. There are four of these. The two at the back can't be seen. They look welded on?

The guy in the video took the ecus off. Didn't show or explain how, or any of the clips or bolts.

The pipe I'm worried about will still be attached to the unit, even if I get those off. I need to know how to detach the pipe. The clip around the pipe, or is the square thing meant to move?

Do you mean this trunking of wires to the ECU? Looks like you've already successfully unclipped it from the battery tray to me. No further action necessary here.

It's still connected to the ECU of course. Some people unplug them, but I don't like to disturb it any more than necessary.

Ok, so rewatched this vid and that is meant to come off (it's still joined to the metal tray. The bit circled is the tray). Didn't notice yest as was obsessed over other areas during the vid. It does come off where you circled it, so I need to be braver.

He unplugged the ecu, but left it bolted to the tray. 7 mins ish. I have some torx things, but I don't think it's doable. One cos I'm not inspector gadget 😭 and two, they do look kinda melted on. Whhhhhhhhy is my car not like all the other zillion videos I watched?! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Look there's no shame in giving up and taking it in to be done. I've had to do that myself a few times when I got stuck. At least you gave it a go. I'm sorry it's been a frustrating process for you. Defeated by a FIAT once again! Defiated? Maybe that means something else.

If you're determined to persevere I think we really need the advice of someone with the same model as you who has done it before.

I the meantime, are you able to reach the slave cylinder to put some grease or oil on the rod under the boot?

It may help symptoms, maybe even for quite a while. And it would help to confirm if it really is the slave at fault.

Yeah, I was hoping someone who had the same car could help. Someone who has seen all the zillion bits I have to take off. I can't go back to the garage, as I've already paid £150 for them to take her out 3 times, and she never faults for em. They wont do anything until they feel the fault, which is why I came for help to you lovely people.

I can't reach the slave cylinder.

I'm torn between just unplugging the ecu, or trying to put it back together.

That video by Love500 is our very own @typecastboy, he knows what he's doing and it looks the same as yours. If he unplugged the ECU and left it in place I would do the same.
Right I'm gonna see if I can get it back together so I can nip out to the allotment. If not I will unclip the ecu in a blind panic and hope it works out.

Oh, well done getting the new slave cylinder on :) Top vid!

Let us know if you need any help bleeding. I do mine by myself, I think this video describes it quite well:

Ooooh brill vid, ty. Bit worried as that's not how I did it lol. I bought a thing from halfords so I could do it alone, but Mick who I worked with 20 yrs ago was going past, and he helped. I see him a couple of times a year walking his dog. There was clutch fluid in the tube, I did want to go a bit more (I was pumping the clutch) but he said it was ok, and I didn't wanna argue as he'd helped. I went and did a run on the a47, and everything seemed ok. Hopefully no one will tell me there's still time for things to go wrong, as I'm thinking if there'd been an issue, it would've happened right away? Please say yes lol.

I will keep an eye on the fluid level, and when it stops raining put some cardboard under to check for any leaks.

Changing the cylinder was stoooooopidly easy, and I'm worried it was toooooo easy. I had to change the bulb on the rear number plate, and that was waaaaaay worse.

I'm gonna do the oil next. I can't get under without a kerb, so hopefully over the rd don't create drama with me doing it infront of theirs (I'm on the bus route side, so can't block the road).

Thankyou so much for your help. Thankyou to everyone. You will all be in my oscars speech.
