Hello all. I wonder if you could answer what I am sure is going to seem like a rather stupid question.

We have had our Fiat 500 Lounge (which we love) for a couple of weeks now. We'd quite like to pump up the tyres but there's nothing in any of the books we received with the car to tell us the tyre pressure. We've asked the dealer and received a different answer each time (30PSI all round, 32PSI at the front and 30PSI at the back) and none of these answers fit with the tyre pressure on the car when we checked it (37PSI all round).

Our lounge is fitted with the standard 15" multispoke alloys. Can anyone tell me where to find the correct tyre pressure? Or even better, what it is?

(apologies if I am being thick, new baby and I have barely slept for six weeks)

37 psi soundsvery high to me.

for me i have a sticker on the inside of the drivers door area. Open the door and look at the cars frame next to the drivers seat. Should be something there.

why would I have to remember that?
every pump is use lists PSI & bar

Clearly I was addressing the OP, not you- he stated measurements in psi, but you did not. You also failed to include the information relating to speed and load, making your entry somewhat more vague than it needed to be.
BTW - every pump does not use both psi and bar - the automatic versions at Tesco stations, where one needs to enter the pressure required before filling - is in psi only. I'm sure there are many other examples.

There's nothing other than the model details in my door jamb - nothing about tyre pressures anywhere on the car, oddly

deary me,you posting style really does leave something to be desired
I failed in nothing,my post included a link to the manual in question so I gave all the info needed
all the automatic pumps i use(Including a Tesco filling station) have a PSI/BAR button next to the +/- buttons
i know 3 buttons is a lot but take your time and Im sure you will find them

I suggest you look at your posting style and amend it accordingly

there is another button on tesco ones saying bar psi you press it to change between the 2. i still use psi and always go 2 psi above what fiat recommend as they seem to get it wrong all the time and people end up with word edges on their tyres. i dont think they do enough parking when doing tyre tests

It's pretty clear what I said: I merely gave the OP the information required to convert bar to psi

I suggest you look at your posting style and amend it accordingly -perhaps some less opinionated comments would suffice

well Zakt, given your age i would expect better
however take this as forum advice to amend your postings
Ive already seen enough problems with your postings
the beauty of forums is you are allowed to have an opinion, how you get that opinion across is a different matter

What a bizzare thing to post!
My posting simply gave a quick converson from bar to psi, as the OP had given figures in psi only, but for reasons only known to you you felt the need to point out that YOU already knew this. You seem to forget that others may not
I'll not be amending my postings, I'll leave them just as they are, but many, many, many thanks for the suggestion

show us a photo of one that dont

oh and remember dont quote some one if you are posting info for all, thats what custard means by posting style, adding conversion is good, but it looked like you was saying it to custard

You want me to go out photographing pumps? I think I'll decline that offer! :)

"Custard" may have thought I was addressing him, but it was clear that I was just giving the OP further info. Why "Custard" chose to respond in such a way is anybody's guess.
In the past I've been jumped on for suggesting a little grease may solve a slight squeek, but now I'm even being criticised by him for giving a bar/psi conversion. There really is no pleasing some people :bang:

You quoted my post
ergo this information could be deemed to be aimed at me

you then followed that up by listing my failures in my post

An example for you would be to quote the person you intend a comment to be aimed at
and to perhaps use a phrase like 'to add further information' rather than failed

Dont worry Zakt,no hard feelings from me
and I'll be sure to monitor your posts for any required corrections from now on

oh and this is the multiquote button
multiquote_off.gif

now had i not used it,im sure you would have told me i failed to do so
I will just advise you its handy for replying to multiple posts

Many, many, many thanks for that. Your assistance is really appreciated. I mean, if it were not for kind suggestions like that the world would be a far, far worse place.
Love and hugs xxx
