Hello,
My twinair 2011 is blowing excessive exhaust fumes out of the oil filler cap causing oil to spray on underside of bonnet when the cap is off. The car has done 48k miles.

Is this piston rings or a more simpler solution?

Thank you

Most vehicles will spray oil out of the oil filler if you remove oil filler cap while engine is running. Running engine with filler cap off is not a good idea-risk of being scalded by hot oil is just one reason.

Is car running normally?
Is car using a lot of oil? Do you have to top up the oil often?

We've not had the car long , performance it seems good and cruses nicely at 60. A bit juddering between 2 and the 3rd. Doesn't seem to use oil. We had the oil tested at a lab and said it was good, no coolant in the oil etc. we had it checked over by a mechanic friend and said we need to get rid of it due to the exhaust fumes coming out of the oil filler and would need new engine. But he really hates fiat 500 so not sure if he was scared mongering..

It sounds normal. Mine will blow globs of foam 30 ft into the air with the cap off. Previous one the same. They must run a high crankcase pressure. I did extensive research and its normal. All dealers including the one I trust and two of the oldest in UK ALL SAID THE SAME.
Another reason for EXACTLY the specified oil to be used bang on time for each change. My car very low miles but5.5 years old still going well, so do not worry about it. Its Italian!

Ive been here before but if you think Italian cars have a temper! you should try the women! ( wife & three daughters!)

Not so much a temper as a very strong will. Noop is a bit like our dog, feisty, fun, and bloody strong willed. He does things when he feels they are necessary, and in his own time. I rather admire them for this.

And, is it just Italian women.... I thought they were all like that LOL
