has anybody tried one of these tuning boxes on the M-jet 150 sport

just wondered what gains in performance and or economy any of you have had, I know a remap would give better gains but I like the idea of a plug and play unit that I can remove at anytime and have the car back to normal

if you thrash a remapped engine it will use more fuel than it did when you thrashed it before the remap.

why do people claim they see a saving on fuel? you dont need to put the engine under as much load to achieve the same performance as before, and engine load makes a huge difference to economy.

Because they are using less throttle, threfore creating a saving in fuel.

Who is to say a re-mapped car is always thrashed?

Jug likes that angle it comforts him as he is a Petrolhead only... :D

I dont thrash my GPS and I get better economy and performance is there if I want it, at the cost of economy its not rocket science. :p

Exactly :D

Most diesel drivers tend to drive more conservatively as it is, therefore in a re-mapped motor they need less throttle to acheive what they acheived before..... Yet the extra power is there if you want/need to use it ;)

I agree i dont thrash about but when I need it the power is there.......6th gear overtaking is a doddle........
Here are a few of my YouTube`s of my remapped bravo 1.9 multijet 150

FIRST OFF IS THE 0-60

NOW THE STANDARD CAR DOING A 40-90 ROLL ON IN 4TH GEAR

nOW THE REMAP CAR DOING THE SAME 4TH GEAR ROLL ON

check this site out, this is the unit ive got fitted, took me 5 mins to fit, a doddle really... got it set on no9.. balls to the economy..

Not always :D You should see my father in-law. The missus and I were out in Epsom one Saturday morning, heard a car racing down the high street to see him gunning it down the road.....with a bed on the roof.

Going back on thread, I bought one of these type of boxes for my old JTD. Pile of ****e IMO so I personally wouldn't bother buy any sort of plug in tuning box ever again.

The plug in boxes are supposed to be very similar to a remap. They 'may' throw up error codes though as the box is plugged in and out of the car's harness, which a remap wouldn't do as it's always there.

Seems to work fine for me,
Im having a giggle with mine at the moment.. dunno then mate why you had no joy, mite have had a duff box maybe ????
The torque comes online faster and lasts longer.. you can turn down the gains in power by a 9 postion switch for economy, or off all together, if you so want to !!

Wow. I just put the stopwatch on your youtube vids, and your Bravo looks to be getting 0-60 in about 6.5 secs, and an even more impressive 0-100 in 17.5. That's damn fast. A proper hot hatch no less. To put that in perspective, a MK1 Bravo 155hgt petrol hit 0-100 in 20.5 secs. Seriously impressive.

How much was the remap, and where from?

The 4th gear 40-90 is awesome, around 8 secs. That's not far off a MK1 Porsche Boxter. :slayer:

I really want a Bravo MJet 150 engine in my Marea JTD now. Be nearly as quick even without the remap. Hmmmmm

My remap cost me 200 quid...... I live in Northern Ireland so doubt you could get it done by the same guy.......lol

And yes I love it when MR Rep car TDI comes hard up on my rear I cant resist leaving him for dead:devil:It has happened a few times when i have been coming onto a duel carrageway or motorway and they come fast up behind you and cant wait till you have joined the lane and try and shoot out to the outside lane and over take you... So I always just plant it and again watch him fade away in my rear view mirror only up to 100 or so then slacken off coz I have prooved my point :p
