Tuning TMC tuning box anyone fitted to T Jet 150?

its in the quote you said "my opinion that a product I have used would be a better option"
it is not fine because you have not used the product you are saying it is better than!
that is exackly what the rule is their for, everyone has an opinion, but its not allowed to be posted, was just a friendly reminder this time but if you cant except it it can be taken further.

thread title TMC tuning box anyone fitted to T Jet 150? so its no good trying to back track and say "I was talking about tuning boxes in general" the best thing to do is just leave the thread

you did though, and 2 more times after

when in a hole stop digging ;)

thread has run it's course, all i wanted was a answer to a simple question not a mass debate

Didn't realise you couldn't debate on a forum.

If someone is only going to ask about 1 product then it's going to be amazing isn't it because there is nothing to compare it to.

Horses were brilliant modes of transport hundreds of years ago. Important for things to be put into context.

"Everyone has an opinion but it is not allowed to be posted"

Your kidding right? This is a discussion forum

Anyway enough your right.

Well back on topic again, although no first hand experiance, TMC are finding that their tuning boxes are getting so good that they are almost comparable to a remap (although quite a few people will disagree), and based on the fact that the ECU on the Bravo seems a bit of a bugger to fine-tune, I kind of wish I went down the TMC box route now.

good feedback cheers (y)

will decide what i do in the spring, with the cold dense air and greasy roads the last thing my car needs at the mo is more power/torque

have got some sticky tyres ready for the spring and thinking again about these tuning boxes

what would be great is if you can have a switchable map between
performance (trackday/weekened b road blast)
standard
and economy (work on expenses)

i know you can do this with programmable ecus but can it be done with a tuning box?

You can get the boxes with power adjustment, pretty much the same thing.

I recently bought a tuning box for my MJet 120, from DTUK. This box simply hijacks the common rail connection and, I presume, tells the injectors to work differently.
Now, from what I've read, the TMC boxes work differently, using the camshaft sensor to detect current revs? Or is this done through the common rail connection at the same time as controlling the injectors?
Basically, can somebody explain in more detail what this box does, exactly?

hi i've read through a few threads on this topic and really interested in bumping up the power on my 150 t-jet as well, but I have a few concerns as i'm not hugely technically minded can these tuning boxes cause any unforeseen problems that are going to haunt me later, can i really just plug and play these kits and carry on regardless without purchasing any other exhausts, induction kits heavier clutch etc.. and how much extra fuel is the power kit actually going to use..!

Well, the tuning boxes really don't put the engine under too much stress. It's all within it's capabilities. Obviously your engine is going to suffer because of the extra power but thats just going to happen isn't it? I wouldn't so much say that it will DAMAGE your engine, but more wear it's components out a little quicker.

Yes, you really can just plug and play them without any extra things at all, and it even comes with a re-router plug, so rather than taking the (very little amount of) cabling out, you can just swap the tuning box for the re-router, which channels back to the cars original manifold and boost pressure sensors.

Since I fitted mine to my 150T sport, I would actually say fuel consumption is better! Even when ripping the arse out of it!

...and for what it costs... it's brilliant.

P.S. actually did some 0-60mph time trials the other day and was getting on average around 7 or 7.5 secs. Very pleased with those results, seeing as that makes it a direct rival to the likes of Golf GTi's and not too far off Focus ST's.

I think that hijacking this thread might be more appropriate then starting a new one. I've recently bought myself a TMC kit for my Bravo and I have a question for the rest of you running these kits.
Where did you decide to place the kit in your engine bay?
I've ended up placing it temporarily on top of the engine coolant container since I cannot find somewhere that´s really appropriate and I still want it in there since it does make the car so much more fun to drive.

I don't have a picture of my engine bay so I used someone elses and marked where I put my TMC tuning kit.

It's jammed between the suspension thing and the black box (no idea what it is) behind the battery. It fits nicely if you face the stickered side of the tuning kit towards the windscreen.

I´l have to try that tomorrow. Seems like a good as place as any other. Better than on top of the coolant anyway. And I think that the black box thingy is filled with fuses. :)

My is plastic tied to the support brace which attaches to the wing and front like in wegi pic but on the left one

So anyway, I was out moving my kit this afternoon but I couldn't fit it between the fuse box and the suspension since I had a cable running through there with a clip right in the middle which I couldn't move and didn't want to break.

In the end I gave up and fit it back down next to the coolant container. Not on top of it though where I had it before but on the side of it but then I had to run the cables on top of the engine making it quite conspicuous for anyone with half a brain.

I will just have to remove it for every service and MOT. I had a secret wish of hiding the kit so you wont spot it directly when opening the bonnet. So if you have a better location for the kit or the cables then please post a picture so that I can copy your brilliant solution.

Hmm your engine bay looks a bit different to mine. The clip is a bit further down than that on mine.

So the support brace seems like the most common place to put it. How have you drawn your cables from the sensors to the box. My solution on top of the engine isn't the prettiest one.
