1) Does the 500 have a foot rest on the left (by the clutch) like the GP?

2) Does the seat go really far back for someone like me (6ft 4)

3) What's the handling like?

Book yourself a test drive, its the only way to find out. Handling and everything else is completely subjective.

I'm going to this afternoon I have to take my GP over this afternoon :)

Just wanted some thoughts from you guys!

1) Does the 500 have a foot rest on the left (by the clutch) like the GP?

Yes

2) Does the seat go really far back for someone like me (6ft 4)

Yes, I'd be more worried about head room tbh. Forget the sunroofs (opening and non opening) IMHO/E

3) What's the handling like?

Fun

Answers as above

2) I'm 6'1 and the other half is 6'3 we fit fine =D and the seat isnt alllll the way back either.

That's cool, thanks guys!

I'll have a sit in one this afternoon and hopefully a test drive soon! :)

My brother is about your height and didn't have any problems with headroom when he drove my car and we've got the lounge which comes with the glass roof.

It does indeed.

I'm approx 6 2" and I have the seat nowhere near the back end, so length is no problem, with the glass roof I have the seat at it's highest setting and there is plenty of room, so if you lower it, there will be even more.

3) What's the handling like?

I can't comment too much as the 500 is my car, but I find it to be great fun. I take it for speedy drives through twisty roads and it's always amusing, the light weight and revvy 1.2 makes for good fun with lots of noise! Good noise too ;-)

Hope this helps, at least vaguely, even though the question has already been answered! Have fun on the test drive!

Thanks for your replies guys, i didn't get a chance this afternoon to test drive one will have to be tomorrow now!

i think you should wait for gp evo. i drove one of them(1.4 135 PS) today and it was absolutely fantastic.

I think it'd be too exepnsive etc..

Am after the 500 in 1.2 Petrol or 1.3 new Euro IV diesel engine.

A) To save money compared to my GP
B) To save money comapred to my GP's insurance
C) To save money compared to my GP's tax
D) To save money compared to my GP's fuel
E) To save money compared to my GP's warranty expiring Mar 010

Did you, where?!

Turkey by the looks of it.

Isn't the Punto Evo Abarth coming late next year with the Multiair engine as well?

But I'd listen to durukan and wait a while for the ordinary Evo.

Sorry; just noticed you were looking at an ordinary 500. A colleague has just bought the 'Diesel' version in dark green, with a Diesel engine. It's beautiful. With the MultijetII Diesel it would be utterly fantastic, but the price...

Don't kid yourself, you don't buy a new car "to save money"
You buy a new car to loose money. If you want to save money then buy an old banger, because the money you loose through buying a new car will cancel out the few hundred quid you save on tax/fuel/insurance etc. And as for the Abarth, it seems stupidly dear, but when you own one it all makes sense and actually for the amount of fun you have in it seems rather cheap!!!

yep, in turkey. you may easily find one of them in a major dealer. i don't think they would let you drive though. i had some privileges since one my friends is working there. by the way, it was the one with multiair engine and i must say i'm really impressed with it. low rev torque is very similar to diesel engines. i tested it about 5 miles in very heavy traffic and average consumption was only 6.7 lt/100 km (42 mpg). amazing for a 133 hp turbo engine

I think this could be THE best Fiat for 2010, I just wish they could crank up the manufacture of these Multiar engines and get them into all their cars, at all levels of performance, NOW.

Everybody seems to speak very highly of this engine. And as you say, 42mpg is fantastic from a fast car, in traffic!

in this video

they say that it's applicable to other engines. maybe a multiair conversion kit will come out.

sorry, it doesn't say that here but i'm pretty sure that i heard it somewhere.
