The quick question thread

Having owned landrovers with rubber flooring I can't emphasise enough how important it is to never put rubber flooring, condensation and water gets easily trapped between the metal and the mat, before you know it you have a big hole in the floor

Even panda carpet is rubber backed. You'll be ok John, just make sure the chassis / floor Drainage and breath points under the car are clear (y)

Does LEZ affect only vehicles registered inside and driving in it or any none compliant vehicle driving in it no matter where it's registered

Look at buying a none compliant Defender from within the zone and wondering if I'll get screwed buy the LEZ or not :(

Had a look at TFL site but doesn't say.

If it's on a trailer it'll be fine - just cover the number plates.... If it's not on a trailer and you want to drive it home you may get stung which from what I've read it's a lot of money!

However not all roads in and out of the LEZ have cameras - so if you know which ones do, avoid them.....

It might even be worth paying a recovery firm to tow it to a location outside the LEZ just to be safe?

Drive it without number plates... "just bought on my way to Halfords officer!"

I had thought of the back road approach, but decided its still risky, tempted to obscure the plates (but couldn't possibly as its completely against the law  ).

I hadn't thought about paying for recovery of it. LEZ is £100 a day, or £250 fine if not purchased. Its in Croydon, so only about 4-6miles in the zone. I suspect recovery on a low loader might be viable, possibly less than the £100, although I'll need it doing next bank holiday Monday

Another option is trade plates? I've access to some, and the can (and ideally always should) cover the origional plates I believe - so may be a way of getting around it

Whats LEZ?

My question, are Falkens tyres any good? Can get them fitted for just under £100 each.

Also, the best place to get 225/55R16 from. Tried Camskill and BlackCircles (cheapest so far).

Whats LEZ?.

Low Emmision Zone. Pretty much covers most of central london and surrounding suburbs. including those within the Congestion Zone

From what i read when i drove in london a couple of years ago it didnt effect cars? But i was in a Deisel Corsa, so never got stung.

Guessing a Defender might be a lot different.

Changed on 3rd Jan this year and covers a lot more than it did. All BS if you ask me, absolute cash cow! (n)
