Haha, just thought I would ask, how many of you vintage spider owners have installed a " test pipe"? Im just about to install mine and do a study of the test 😉
Did anyone notice a difference? I will keep my old converter in the event the test needs to be over :)

I assume it is the catalytic convertor you are replacing with the pipe and on an early version before any Lambda sensors were used which if not connected would obviously throw up error codes on any computers.
It may help performance if the old unit has become partially blocked over the years.
I am not sure if it would pass a stringent emission test on exhaust gases, but then if the original cat was old presumably that wouldn't either.;)

Yes, and my spider is a 1979 so there will be no codes...just looking to make it breathe a bit better and saving the converter and all related parts in the event i want to put it back, no more inspections here either, the stock exaust manifold looks like it flows pretty well so I don't think I will be adding a header....I was just curious if anyone else installed one of these, and if any difference in performance was noted....

I read somewhere that fitting a de-cat pipe should give a c. 3bhp power increase.

(I also read about the mod's that needed to be then done on the fuel injection metering unit (Bosch L Jetronic system) but iirc your car is a carb. model so not applicable in your case).
